The speeds are nowhere near symmetric, and barely suprpass cable.. they need to kick it up a notch.. 15mbit for basic, 30 for intermetiate and 50 for the topnotch.. with no more that 50% less for upstream..
Emeril says kick it up a notch! And that's not all-- cut the prices further for voice bundles! |

dont know but if they do offer something like 15/15 or 30/30 i think that would cut from thier profits on ds1, ds3 lines and the such plus for residential use what is the point in offering such high uploads? so more people can torrent, kazza, p2p or whatever? if they do offer it im sure there will be some limits on it otherwise thier higher cost lines like ds1, ds3 will suffer. |

| so how are poeple supposed to use the net? is that 15mbps supposed to be for reading email and watching banner ads? what's wrong with "torrent, kazza, p2p or whatever"? what about running web, vnc, or vpn servers? multiple voip lines? video phones? or are those services also no-no's unless we're being charged extra for them? |

theres nothing wrong with them, unless your just pirating more crap which is what most use them for. and i never said anything about running web, vnc, or vpn servers or anything about voip or anything like it. the only reason people want such high download and upload is mostly so they can pirate crap which is what i was really saying. hell i would even put up a couple of servers if i had that kind of bandwidth, but they are not going to do that because they want you to buy one of thier over prices lines instead. |

Seriously. I'm getting shafted on base by Sprint - $38 for 500/128 (and the latency is equivalent to dial-up). Now I'm a speed freak too but I draw a line somewhere. I guess you will always have those people who will never be satisfied till they're surfing with their tits on fire and their harddrive barely able to keep up |

Well, here's the first thing that's going to happen in 2004 if tney deploy those fiber lines, that $90 per month they get for their top package of VOICE service gets hammered to voip with no $12-20 per month in taxes and surcharges saving about $50 per month in overcharges, like $600 per year!!, Next, content delivered cheap instead of full retail store price like charging $20 per audio cd in the 1990's and make you buy the whole thing.. Next, alacarte cable programming so we don't have to take channels that suck..If we don't want fox news channel, or abc or disney, than we don't buy it anyway because it's in the package.. and dont even try to overcharge us b/c it will backfire with re-streaming content at low bit rates.. so give us a fair deal or watch the new napster for cable tv(spring to life)!! A fair deal, oh yea one more fantasy thing.. can I get an independant candidate on the presidential ticket please, and no fries with that! It's called fair deals and REAL competition.. vz had to cut their price because of an inferior product for years now-- don't think just b/c those cute red lettering trucks lay fiber that's overcharged for is going to make them alot of money.. try again--also it can't replace copper yet because we don't have long-term battery backedup voip(or video phone) hardware solutions yet--hint hint maybe 2006-2007 product lines, but not 2004 |

Who's talking.. a 10/1 guy.. No where near symmetric? Its surely more symmetric than your 10/1 cause its 15/2, To be equally symmetric as your connection it has to be 20/2. |

well i doubt anything close to that will happen in 2004 since the year is half over already. 2005? maybe but before half of what your saying comes true fiber will have to be more widespread and at the cost per mile it is going to take awhile, by time fiber will finally be deployed on a large scale i will be too old to care or dead so im not going to hold my breath waiting for it. |
