[general] BEFW11S4 V.4 slow ethernet/wireless

I just recently purchased this router to share my connection with my sister's new laptop. The router accesses the internet fine however, it seems to have very slow speeds wired or wireless. Wireless is barely even usable since it's slower than dialup (even on 11M mode).

To make sure it wasn't the distance affecting the speed, I moved the laptop right next to the router. It was still slow as a snail. The LAN wasn't that great also. While transferring files from the computer (which has a faster drive) to the laptop using a hard-wired setup, the speed was limited to about 512k/s.

Is there any fix for this? I've almost done anything from upgrading to the latest firmware (1.50.14) to resetting the router countless times. It still doesn't fix the problem. Any ideas/suggestions?

EDIT: I'm thinking, if I don't fix the problem by next week, I'll have it refunded. Can anyone also suggest a good 802.11g router that's compatible with AOL? I'm thinking about the WRT54G from Linksys, however I've also read numerous problems concerning the WRT54G. I've heard good things about D-link routers too. The price range has to be under 100.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: [general] BEFW11S4 V.4 slow ethernet/wireless

OK, never mind guys. Turns out it wasn't the router at all but the integrated ethernet on my desktop and the integrated wireless device (part of centrino) on my sister's laptop. I replaced them with linksys' LNE100TX and WPC11 respectively. Everything seems to be in order with both maxing out at 3mbs/768kbs for internet (my rated line) and around 7-9mbs for LAN.

Thanks for every body's effort(s) anyway.
