Personally, I'd keep your Terayon cable modem; There is a current upstream bug on some comcast systems using the SB5100 cable modem, So your upstream will be somewhere between 100 - 160 kbps; You will be 100% fine with your current modem.

| In a few days from now I'll be pulling the plug on my Optimum Online service and setting up shop instead in Comcast country. (Yeah, I know: 10m/900k to 3m/256k....BUMMER! ) I own my Terayon TeraJet ECM110 (aka TJ110) DOCSIS modem and have already been told by Comcast that it's a "supported" model. Before discontinuing my present OOL service, Cablevision's policy might allow me to "trade up" to a more current modem such as a DOCSIS 2.0 capable Motorola SB5100. My TJ has never given me a lick of trouble but it's a relatively old modem without an internal diagnostic page and not upgradeable to DOCSIS 2.0. Nevertheless I'm inclined to hang on to it unless you guys can give me a good reason to do otherwise.
Is Comcast planning to upgrade to DOCSIS 2.0 at any time in the near future (in which case I should probably try getting CV to swap modems) or will I be fine with my trusty old TeraJet? |
