You shouldnt need to uninstall your old version. After you purchase the update just launch your 8.2 and go to OPTIONS>UPDATE and you should get a button that reads PURCHASE UPDATE. There will be a place to enter in your new key. It will then update your 8.2 to 9.0. At least this was my experience

go to the MM site and download 9.0 then install if you have life time agreement
