As part of the effort to make up for lost time, he's announced plans to spend about $800 million installing fiber- optic cables to 1 million homes in California, Florida, Texas and six other states this year. He says he'll double the number of homes next year and reach customers who generate half of the company's revenue in the next five years
Well there you go. 1 million this year, 1 million next year in a total of 9 states.
Forget everyone being strung by fall 2004.
Right from the horse's mouth.
That should dispel all the rumors flying around the board.

You'd have to be an idiot to believe that Verizon was going to rewire the ENTIRE network across the ENTIRE country by Fall 2004. That simply is not possible, the current copper network took years to build. Fiber isn't going to be any different, but they are starting. Some area's will have FTTP by Fall 2004, but the majority of customers won't get it for 3 to 5 years.

How does that equate to "majority"?
PA already generated billions on a promise.
Does that make Ivan a liar?
