Corey_TToyota Offroad Forum Owner join:2001-10-27 Auburn, WA | Speed issues Auburn, WA. Anyone else having major problems in the Auburn/Federal Way area?
I use a Netgear 614 router hooked up to a Toshiba 1100U modem. The service has been cutting in and out over the past few days. I will try and call up a web page or upload files to my server, and the #1 light on the router just sits there, then all of a sudden it will work.
I disconnected the router and I am having the same issue with just the modem.
Here is a speed test on the forum here just taken now. 2004-08-01 10:52:59 EST: 2073 / 85 Your download speed : 2122756 bps, or 2073 kbps. A 259.1 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 87661 bps, or 85 kbps

I did disconnect my router and am now plugged in right to the modem. Same problems. Everything cuts in and out.
My area here is very famous for this. I'm up by the Casino. -- My Forumhttp://yotatech.com |

They are coming over next weekend to check my lines outside for noise, but I know the issue is with the pole our complex hooks up to.
Somewhere between it and the hub at Federal Way something gives out every so often. A tech once told me it's like a ghost in the system, they can't pinpoint it.

I take it you just double click the cmd files after unzipping. -- My Forumhttp://yotatech.com |

You confirm if this same problem be openeing command prompt window and pinging a site with the -t command, Example: ping www.yahoo.com -t
If will go fine 5-6 hits and then randomly time out. |

Corey_TToyota Offroad Forum Owner join:2001-10-27 Auburn, WA | reply to Corey_T Just read your post there. The tech on the phone this morning looked at my modem log and said it has been dropping off all week. They just did some major upgrades like Wednesday morning I think, and I suspect it was this QAM256 thing.
In your other post you mentioned they can get it to work with the Toshiba 1100U?
I will show this post and yours to the techs when they get here Saturday. -- My Forumhttp://yotatech.com |

wadewoodPremium join:2003-05-04 Houston, TX | reply to Corey_T They told me they were working on their system to make it work with the Toshiba 1100 modem; unsure how long this could take. Have them replace modem and the problem will probably go away. |

Corey_TToyota Offroad Forum Owner join:2001-10-27 Auburn, WA | reply to Corey_T I will probably end up getting a Surfboard modem, as I own the 1100U, and they won't take that in trade I don't think. -- My Forumhttp://yotatech.com |

Corey_TToyota Offroad Forum Owner join:2001-10-27 Auburn, WA | reply to Corey_T The 'Net has been down here for the past few hours in Auburn. Not sure if it was Comcast, or the modem. The data light was not on at all.
But earlier in the afternoon it kept fading in and out again.
Called tech support again and tier one has not heard of the problem with their upgrades affecting Toshiba 1100U modems. Mentioned the forum here and he has heard of it but never been here. Told him he could learn a lot if he came here
Looks like I may stop by Comcast tomorrow and see if they have a Surfboard 5100. $3 a month for a few years is still less than shelling out $80 for it at Best Buy. »www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp···=product -- My Forumhttp://yotatech.com |
