Re: [DSL] win98 Laptop d/ling ~500k faster than XP yeah back when I had cox, over 6 months ago now. And with pppoe overhead I should be seeing abour 2.4~2.5 down I understand, I do prefer the better pings I've been getting (my node was very oversold) and have no desire to go back to cable, just wanna get this up to speed
I had one other thought, someone over there posted a link to another speed test that has some seriously strong stats, gonna try to cut and paste them here as well as there, very long text though, just fyi, gimme a few mins. -- Power corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat. |

Irish SharkPlay Like A Champion TodayPremium,MVM join:2000-07-29 Las Vegas, NV kudos:3 | I have been trying to figure out what is amiss here. I compared my results with yours and others.
What I see is the MaxCwnd: 38640 is too low. It should be close to or above your RWIN. This is also low CurCwnd: 23460. However, I cannot find a way to fix it. -- Ninety percent of the game is half mental. Yogi Berra |

krobarIs this thing on? join:2002-09-15 Columbus, OH | well, if nothing else, I may this weekend try a repair install of XP. Dunno if it'll help, but Im out of other ideas. If that doesn't work I'll be backup a lot of data (hope I have enough cd's laying around) and trying a reformat and install. -- Power corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat. |

This will reset the registry to default TCP/IP values.
Open a Command Prompt and type: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Reboot. Set The Doctor Tweaks.
Save, exit, reboot, retest. -- Ninety percent of the game is half mental. Yogi Berra |

krobarIs this thing on? join:2002-09-15 Columbus, OH | same speeds, here's the tweak test (I didn't apply drtcp fixes at all to it yet) »ttester.broadbandreports.com/twe···terpppoe
It's already at 1492 (at the router as well as at the modem) and the rwin is already set to what it should be (or so I'm told)
Something I just remembered, right before I upgraded I had downloaded and ran MS's regclean utility, possibly that wiped something out or corrupted something? Of course I stupidly didn't keep a backup registry from then -- Power corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat. |
