vonage is down in the 757 area code, 1 ring then it cuts off whoever is calling or making a call, website is down as well, hopefully if you guys are getting service back it will trickle down. friend in quantico is still having problems with her.. first downtime since I got it 6 months ago.
vonage rocks as long as you ignore the fact they do have downtime once in a blue moon. ..... ahh finally back up now, although garbled, probably everything coming back up, give it a few if your in the 757 area, reset your box as well so you can get a fresh linkup with the services. |

1 edit | reply to jay_rm (416) I get a dialtone and can check my voicemail, but calls to POTS numbers generate dead air or a busy signal.
****edit*** Spoke too soon. Now my moto box is up and down, seems to connect for a few minutes, then I get the four flashing lights. Doesn't matter, when it is connected I still can't make calls.***** |

| reply to Toollio Dialtone is back, but just had the strangest thing happen.
I was testing an inbound call to my Vonage line, and after it rang, I hung up on the originating line.
My Vonage line continued to ring... and ring... and ring...
After a minute of ringing, I answered it, and hung up. It's got dialtone, but I don't think they quite have their act together today. |

If it's a network-level outage, it's not a question of what Vonage wants to do. The thing is broken. Such is life.
The phone calls I needed to make in the last hour or so, I made on my cell phone.
No doubt Vonage's call center is unable to handle a huge volume of calls from tens of thousands of customers asking why their phone service isn't working. The service announcement on the Web site said what needed to be said. |

Vonage should have multiple redundant systems if they want to be taken seriously. At least all calls should go to voicemail if there is a network issue, if not forward correctly.
My main issue is when something goes wrong - it's a complete failure, not a partial failure or isolated to one function. No one can reach you, leave you a message or get any indication there is a problem and they should call back, just a busy signal. |

| reply to HatingVonage Eh, what do you mean about them not allowing forwarded calls to cell phones?
My cellphone is my emergency (network down) number, without a problem, and when I travel I set up callforwarding to my cellphone number without a problem.

I had Vonage and dropped them because of service quality issues. I've had CallVantage for 4 months now and have never had a single burp in the service. Pm me if you want further details. |

I hear ya, Vonage has had to build a reputation for my wife and I'm going to hear about this for the next 6 months when we talk about phone service. |

| reply to frogli quote: so how much of a refund are we getting for this service problem?????
When the service is back up, call their main number: +1 732 528 2600. Ask for Richard Gale. He's their manager of customer care (he doesn't publish his number anywhere).
You'll most likely get his voicemail. Leave him a message saying you want a free month. Be sure to give him your contact info and your vonage number.
Then call back and say you got his voicemail and want to speak to a human. Usually you will get forwarded to a human. Tell the human you want a month of credit because of the outage.
Once they offered me $5. Even credited it to me; I saw the credit on the website.
I called back the next day (I always call the main number) and asked for the customer care manager again (went through the same double calling), said $5 wasn't enough; that I wanted to speak to the retention department to see what kind of deal they'd make to keep me. I got the full month's credit.
Or call at night for Stacey Sekul; she's at +1 732 528-2629. She sometimes actually answers her phone (she's Night Manager of Customer Care) and she's been very helpful.

What's 1/60th (ie 1/2 day) of 30? You want them to refund you something like 50 cents? I'd rather they keep the money and make it more dependable in the future. |
