| Boston people wanna beta 7megabit
So, people in Boston,
This morning I put the 7meg ratelimit configs into the Boston system. Theory says if you reboot your modem when it comes back online it should pick up the 7megabit profile (only if you had the 5megabit modem service before). I Would love to get as many people as I can from wherever you are doing some tests and just shooting back to me numbers.
All I would ask is email me What Town you are in What Downstream you got What upstream you got Where you tested it at IE dslr or somewhere else.
It would be nice to get your CableModems mac address in these emails so I can tell exactly where you are from a network perspective
however, If the speeds are no good at all Include your mac address is required if you want me to look at it. Without it I can't do anything.
Oh and you 3meg folks... if you reboot your modem you should goto 5 Just remember this is all beta right now
Emails can be sent back via DSLR -- Bryan Laird Senior Manager RCN Cablemodem Operations |

| reply to negativeduck coolio - i got it now - at least according to docsdiag. I still see my download from rcn tucows mirror maxes at around 5.5mbps (with NetPerSec), but I guess its gonna take a while for all the upstream routers to work it out?
I have posted to you neg

Maybe its because I'm testing in the evenings-- I'll try again at another time.

I assume you only meant RCN Customers, and not all State.
You know, I wish you guys served Beverly, MA. Concast needs some fire under their tail.
Wish I could get a choice of cable ISP |

I'll second that. Also, can you take ComcastHD away please and throw ESPNHD in there instead. ComcastHD is such a waste of bandwidth. |

I am in the Lehigh Valley, and:
1) please do us next!
2) we need a bump in the UPLOAD to at least 1000kbps, and 1500kbps would rule! We would have bragging rights over OOL then. -- Kerry Edwards '04 |

| reply to negativeduck FYI Made another change this morning, there was actually more overhead that I had expected to see in most cases. So I gave it some more room for the actual "user" traffic. Going to have to find where I screwed up the math on that one but hey. -- Bryan Laird Senior Manager RCN Cablemodem Operations |

| reply to negativeduck Bryan, are you getting e-mails? I sent you a few with docsis info and speed tests, including the overhead 'issue'.

| Yea I'm getting them... ALOT of them... although actually the overhead isn't that great... And the acks's we're not anywhere near strapped enough in most cases that the upstream is going to fry the downstream. -- Bryan Laird Senior Manager RCN Cablemodem Operations |

| No, not on acks alone, but it's eating into the upstream.
BTW - service seems to be slow and spotty right now - web pages stall, takes a few seconds for things to pop up. Also - what cable modem is provided to the majority of RCN subs? -- RCN 5000/800. Rock solid, always hit 5000 down. GO NYY! |

And people, stop asking for more upload speed, you have nothing to moan about, you have two way. Be happy you get two FREE upgrades in less than a year, alright? There are your "bragging" rights right there.
No increase yet, I rebooted just in case. Oh, and next time you ask for a higher upload speed, look at mine.
