Actully if the hotel isn't stupid, they will block a lot of ports. I stayed at a Marriot and they have a free t1 line for use. It was slow (to me, half the speed of my DSL) but it did run at 1.5mbps.
I did try a few p2p things, and they were blocked, no big deal, I mostly went to DSLR.
