Hmmm...

Well anyway, these are the 2 definitive threads 'bout eanthology/StopSign:

»eAnthology

»StopSign - WARNING! - Eanthology

I guess one needs to read and make a personal judgement!

SugarnSpyce,

probably you should start a new topic to solve the specific problem with your computer and removing StopSign.

Maybe mention which version of StopSign it is, or at least when you installed it, which operating system you have, and how it was that you tried to remove it.

One general quick tip on uninstalls, if you have trouble removing software such as:
- using a different product to do the uninstall and that other product leaves things behind
- blue screen of death during uninstall and things left behind
- other uninstall problem
Then if you can re-install the same version of software, and then re-try the uninstall, that will sometimes work. It is an easy thing to try anyway.

However, if there is a bug in the uninstall, then the software vendor's website should be consulted. But since David is here, maybe you can get direct help if you start a new topic on your computer and its uninstall problem.

More info 4u on my problem Keith. On my C drive in my folder "Acceleration Software" I have another folder "SystemPatcher" in that folder I have sputils.dll, updater.dll sys_alert_exe (STOP SIGN) all created 13th March, 2004 V2.0.0.116 and I am running Windows 2000. I go into My Computer - Explore and then open those folders and right click on them and delete but I get the message "Cannot delete sys_alert: Access is denied. The source file may be in use." I do the same thing on each of the files and get the same error message. Acceleration is not in my Add/Remove Programs on Control Panel.
Can you please help me further. Thanks in anticipation.

Sugar

SugarnSpyce - below is a link to an executable that will delete absolutely all of our stuff. Sometimes what you're seeing happens when some other anti-virus/spyware app deletes part of stop-sign but not all. SystemPatcher is a free component of stop-sign services that makes sure you have all the critical updates, especially Blaster and Sasser patches.

If you download and run »www.buttonware.net/pub/download/···tall.exe everything should be removed - all it does it remove eAcceleration files and registry entries.

You may be unwilling to "take the leap of faith" downloading an executable, but it is safe. If you'd rather call us, I can give you an 800# to call for a free tech support call (not tollfree from Australia, I imagine). If you need to talk to a person, email me and I'll give you my cellphone number.

Re: PestPatrol says: eAcceleration/StopSign are Cl

I think if you provided the link to the executable here that would be better. Others could analyze that and not have to ask SugarnSpyce to take the "Leap of Faith". That IS what you are trying to restablish right? Faith and Trust? Do it in public

Edit: Typo

Here's the link before it got edited out
If you download and run »www.buttonware.net/pub/download/···tall.exe everything should be removed safely.

& here's what PestPatrol had to say about the eaccelerator server at www.buttonware.net as of August 6th 2004

Nice move your edit to make my post look silly.

It wasn't when I posted it:)

But next to his post it does say his post was edited and when.

Yes SnowyOne, as of August 6, but PestPatrol recinded the criticisms you note about eAcceleration on August 8 and you failed to mention that.

I suggest we stop flaming the product.

I'm always editing my posts. I can't think straight this time of night. It used to put an edited @ line at the bottom, so it was more obvious. Now the edited @ is over on the side and not so obvious.

I think if they give us the option to edit it is probably okay to do so.

Sorry, CalamityJane - shortly after I posted it I realized I need to make sure I had the link correct before someone hammered me for a bad link - so I edited it out while I used ftp to verify the link was good and current. Then I edited it back in.

I then saw your request for the link - and immediately emailed you a note describing what happened. And got hammered on anyway.

I've also been emailing with Sugarnspyce.

I just think we need to do this out in the open. That will give you the credibility.
