| Cox To Increase Speeds In Middle America
Per three separate people at Cox, they will be upgrading Middle America locations to 3000/256 speeds, up from 1024/128.
If I recall correctly, Louisiana will go first, followed by Arkansas, then Texas. Not sure about Missouri, Mississippi, and Idaho, where they fall in the mix.
This is all supposed to be offered at the same price ($39.95) that we currently pay for the slower service.
None of them had specific dates, but this is a HUGE improvement over what I was hearing only 2 weeks ago. One of the techs I talked with said he had been trained on it last week.
I'll post more info if I get it... |

| reply to ahperry I get those speeds now, but as a commercial customer. Hopefully, if they increase the normal speeds for residential users, then they will increase those commercial customers who are on these speeds to a higher tier to put us in line with the price we are paying, which is ungodly compared to those users who are outside of the "MAC" area. Why they never upgraded MAC, or atleast, tried to bring them inline with the rest of the companies offerings earlier is beyond me. |

Sentinel Premium join:2001-02-07 Florida | reply to ShinyTop8 Yes, we have it too ... but for $60 a month. Supposedly they are supposed to phase out the 1500 service which I have and make the 3000 service $40 a month which is what I pay now for 1500. |

| reply to ahperry I am from northwest arkansas and was very disappointed to wake up to nothing at all.
well i called up cox and the rep told me we are definitely getting a speed increase, but it will be in a few months closer to the end of the year. the speed increase will be for Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana first.
as far as how fast or how much the speed will increase, the rep had no idea or was not allowed to say. hopefully it will be at least comparable to what the rest of the cox nation is getting.
just dont expect anything to happen anytime soon. |

1 edit | I love it.
First, we get billed for premium service for years, and are delivered lightweight service (speed wise).
Next, we watch the other areas (outside MAC) get even higher speeds, and are told to wait patiently for a few more months, but not told what we're waiting for.
Now, I try to call the Springdale office to ask what's happening, and all their phones (including the WATS line) are out of service.
So I go online for tech support, and am told "We have a separate group to handle your area. I can't help you. You need to call them."
Way to go, Cox. What a professional operation. -- Note to SBC: Please light up my RT! I want a new broadband provider! |
