winver.exe | Internet Explorer | Security Center | Automatic Updates | Control Panel | Windows Firewall | Windows Firewall (Exceptions) | Windows Firewall (Advanced) | Outgoing Firewall Protection? |
I downloaded the 2180 build this morning and I have been running it through the ropes.
I slipstreamed in into an older XP cd with SP1a on it, formatted and installed on a clean drive.
These screenshots were taken with windows in it's defaults state. Only thing I did was disable the themes. |

No, it's inbound. said by the dialog box: Windows firewall has blocked this program from accepting connections from the internet or a network. ...

Yeah I know that... I was just wondering why in the build number in the screen shots theres no mention of 2180. Why would the final release still have rtm in the build number? |

| I don't know why the build number doesn't show up either, but "RTM" seems like as good a way to say "final version" as any.

| Well I got a version of sp2 from somewhere and the md5 digest matches the one I saw listed in the neowin forums. I'm going to install once kdebase 3.2.3-r1 finishes compiling in Linux.
From what I saw when looking around other forums 2158 is not the final build. I think it should say 2180 but I'll find out. I'm not too concerned if it breaks my windows install. I don't use it for much of anything |

| reply to Supafly It seems it was released to PC manufacturers today so this may very well be SP2 final. »www.microsoft.com/presspass/pres···chPR.asp -- I could be wrong, now... but I don't think so! - Adrian Monk |

Go into start>accessories>system tools> system information. Hardware Abstraction Layer should say version..5.1.2600.2180 In IE Help>about should say same build as posted in the IE pic above that supafly posted. |

I slipstreamed it with XP SP1 and it (XP-SP2) does not install MS Virtual Machine or .NET Framework so you'll need to install your own MS Java and .NET will be available as a Windows Update. -- I could be wrong, now... but I don't think so! - Adrian Monk |

Steve
rtm appears in the build string of downloads via windowsbeta. People tell me the final version won't have it |
