(Nasdaq: MSFT), owns 33.8 million shares of Cox Communication's class A stock (NYSE: COX), or 5.7 percent of the company, according to the most recent Securities and Exchange Commission filings. At Cox's initial offer of $32 a share, Gates' stake would be worth $1.08 billion.
