| So, I Finally Jumped on the Bandwagon.....and installed Firefox. i must say that i like it.
anything special that i need to know while using it? any good links for add ons and such?
and is it true that i don't really have to worry about browser hijacks/attacks while using firefox?

To expand a bit on what has already been said -
It is true that FF does not suffer from exploitation via IE's Active-X (because it does not have it), and that today, it seems "drive-by" installations (installing with-out the user clicking "Yes" to an installation Dialogue) do not plague it, but that does not make it, nor you, _immune_.
Less worry, yes, less insecure, yes, but one still must secure one's machine, including IE, (»Security »How to Secure (and Keep Secure) My (New) Computer(s): A Layered Approach: ), work to stay on top of the nasties ( »Security »How do I prevent browser hijacks and spyware? , and Mozilla Firefox Privacy & Security Settings , and practice safe-hex.
There is a lot of good info available to help make you(r) Weasel happy:

Good point, 0_0.
AdBlock can slow down page loading, especially if your filters are inefficient. It can also speed things up! An acceptable balance can be found.
TBE is another good example. It does seem to have a somewhat of a slowing effect here (Win2K, Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2 , Slow machine ---> Cel 450, 448M), particularly in it's Advanced Mode.
It might slow down individual page loading, but overall it makes browsing much more efficient, if you utilize its powerful features (loading pages in the background is just the start).
TBE is _not_ perfect. Certain features regularly act up (1: CloseBoxs in Tabs intermittently fail, and/or the "Click" point shifts to the left; 2: Site-specific exceptions for JavaScript to open a new Tab instead of a new window is flaky 3: Re-Loaded Tab Sessions may result in Tabs being re-loaded in different order...).
Past versions have also caused past versions of Weasel to crash under extreme conditions (i.e. dragging tabs across multiple Weasel windows with 40 or more open Tabs).
B  has pointed out, I think, that TBE plays better with Mozilla (proper).
For this user, however, overall, it is indispensable, worts and all.
Beginners (and 1st time users) might start off running Weasel fairly "bare". Then add an extension and run with it for a bit, before adding the next. Try TBE in the non-Expert mode first.
The only requirement is that you must have fun with your Weasel, and hose it off, gently, on occasion

2 edits | A good word of advice on Mozilla security: don't accept
unsolicited XPI installs (those that you didn't initiate
yourself by clicking on an install link on a website -
such as those for Mozilla themes). A few websites have
stared using XPI installs as drive by downloads. While
they don't or can't hijack Mozilla/Firefox, they can
or are designed to (in one case) hijack IE. If you
search back through the Security forum, there are a few
threads about this, and some are also in the Mozillazine
forums as well.

You just have to remember to check it again if you want to install an extension.
