Re: Connecting up your cellphone to VOIP

My quetion would be why? Do you want to use your cell phone to make calls over a VoIP network? The reverse is almost true in my mind. If I bought that why would I want VoIP at all. The advantage that VoIP brings me is lower cost related to a landline that I almost never use while being able to use standard telephones around the house to make some calls and this device allows me to do just that over a cell phone that I never get close to using all of my minutes on anyway.

VOIP may have lower international call rates than most cell plans, that may be a reason.

I've heard of a few ways of doing this, mostly with a Pulver Cell Socket and one of those boxes that bridge two phone lines.

So I would connect a cellsocket to a SPA3000?

I personally use a Dock-n-Talk and a SPA-3000 for this purpose. Both items can be found at Voxilla.

Would you also need one of their port converters to handle incoming cell -> voip traffic?

No, the SPA-3000 handles the port conversion.

Re: Connecting up your cellphone to VOIP

How about if I want get this functionality with a Vonage box. I assume that you use the SPA with a service that allows you to config your own box

Yes that is true you can't use the SPA 3000 with most services. So for a Vonage box you wil need to use the port converter with the Dock-n-Talk.
