Re: The "Official" SP2 Bug Thread

ront, its blue for professional and green for home.

personally, i have only one issue and have not been able to resolve this, it could be due to new upnp code, not sure. normally when upnp is enable with my router it will be detected and shown in network connections. after service pack 2 installation it is not visually represented as it used to be. note, software firewall is disabled.

also note the new symantec patch is out now, so download if you have their apps. it has fix the relationship with security center.

My bad...been a long day...

The router issue may be related to the changes / problems with the tcp/ip stack...I had a similar issue with my M$ MN-700 router but a firmware update fixed it.

Interesting. I installed SP2 over XP Home SP1a and my progress bar is blue, not green.

Only problem I have so far is waiting for the symantec patch for nav 2003. Seems like the 2004 patch is the only one released so far.

As to why I didn't wait for the automatic update to install SP2. College starts back up next week and I'd rather fix/discover any problems right now than to be surprised by them when I need the computer the most.

I have the same problem with XP SP2. The Internet Gateway Device does not show in Network Connections anymore. This means that I cannot manually manage UPnP portmappings anymore. There has to be a solution, but I haven't found it yet.

I've seen similar problem with Internet Gateway that stopped functioning as it should after SP2 update. Look at this thread. I do not know what router you're using but check it anyway. Installation of WXP SP2 on one of the computers on the LAN requires firmware upgrade for Linksys BEFSR81 router to function properly with SNMP and UPnP protocols.

Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself...
