[Compare] Lawyer software questions.

I have a client who sent me this message:

One of our clients will be summarizing/coding documents in either Concordance or Summation software. I’m familiar with Summation, but have never heard of Concordance. Do you know anything about these products? I’d like to know the pros and cons of each as well as the cost.

Anyone have any opinions or information on the products?

Thanks alot, John

Haven't heard of them before, but they seem to be from the same developer, VerdictMax.

Concordance:

quote:
Concordance™ is legal database software which organizes documents, transcripts, and more for large cases. Customizable fields allow the user to record information for each items such as Description, Document Number, Document Type, Keywords, Issue, OCR Text.

Once entered that data can be indexed and searched using both regular search criteria as well as "fuzzy" logic to find all derivatives of a search term. Each record can have an associated TIFF file (or scan of a document). Viewing documents entails simply clicking on a camera icon and the TIFF image scan for the current record is displayed in an external viewer.

Concordance is particularily well suited for very large databases such as ones with over 2 million records because it is fast and reliable.

Concordance has a scripting language for high-end users which allows you to process records and apply certain methods and procedures to modify the records according the the logic contained in the language script. Examples of scripts include search and replace, load ocr data, renumber, convert case, convert date to text, find attachmetns.

Concordance has a web module which allows a user to view records from a standard web browser over the internet. For more advance web browsing capabilities including the ability to code documents remotely iCONECT can be used in conjunction with Concordance.
