This program called Autostreamer will let you slipstream a Service Pack just by running the program and then navigating to the Window's CD and the Services pack, press Start and it will build you a bootable ISO that can be burned with your favorite Burning software.
I used it and from start to Burned CD took around 20 minutes. And all you have to do is point and click
Works With
Supported Operating Systems: - Windows 2000 (All versions) - Windows XP (All versions) - Windows 2003 (All versions)
Supported Service Pack files: - Windows 2000: SP3 onwards (meaning you can't select a SP1/SP2 file as a service pack) - Windows XP: Any - Windows 2003: Any

Building a slipstreamed CD has always seemed a hit-or-miss thing to me, sometimes I got a good one, sometimes not. And I suspsect that the "sometimes not" times were some little step somewher that I missed. Going to give this a try this evening sometime. -- Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment. Barry LePatner |

 | reply to FastEddie I used AutoStreamer for the first time yesterday. Just a couple of clicks and 15 minutes later my XP SP2 .iso was ready for burning.
I'll never go through all the work of doing it manually again. |

Like, a way to get rid of all the SP2 components after you make the .iso? -- Bush/Cheney 2004 Chicago/Cubs 2004 |

Just make an ISO of your original Windows CD... Voila!... No SP2. -- I could be wrong, now... but I don't think so! - Adrian Monk |

No, a slipstreamed XP/SP2 CD is for new installs only (to a formatted drive). If you want to keep all your data/programs, just run the SP2 executable file and update your current configuration. -- I could be wrong, now... but I don't think so! - Adrian Monk |

Don't recall seeing the question, but will the XP Pro upgrade disk slipstream properly? I think I remember you could do a clean install with it, so I'm guessing it's yes. Thought I should ask before attempting it. |

It is probably best to use any original XP disk for SP2 slipstreams. |

I tried to use it to slipstream SP2 into an SP1 CD - it seemed to work however If I extracted the CD is created and loaded it back into Autostreamer, it will still say it was SP1. Does this mean it hasnt worked???
Just to add, the original CD that was provided already had SP1 slipstreamed, otherwise I would have used the original 0 disk!
I tried many other methods to slipstream it into SP1 CD and always receive the message in the attachment.
Could someone give me some help?? |

 | Looks like it can't slipstream onto an already slipstreamed CD. -- GuruGuy |

So in fact, MS did release an "official" WINXP SP1 installation CD which should work just fine with Autostreamer to slipstream SP2, right? Maybe by the time of SP3, Autostreamer will be able to handle a previously slipstreamed CD.
Incidentally - this SP2 slipstreamed CD should work just like the original disk I'm hoping. I have to use MS boot floppies since my system can't boot from a CD. I hope MS is going to update those floppy disks for SP2. |
