easoncHave A Great 2007 join:2001-01-18 Salt Lake City, UT | USA Flag Fonts/Letters I'm really hoping someone can help me find or create letters that incorporate the USA flag.
I've seen something close to what I'm looking for in a jpg picture:

Thank you in advance. |

What text exactly did you have in mind? Does it have to be like the text in your example, or do you just want it to have a flag motif, no matter what type of text it is?
It's easier to help you when we know exactly what it is you are looking for. -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover. |

easoncHave A Great 2007 join:2001-01-18 Salt Lake City, UT 1 edit | Actually, I was hoping to find exactly like in the example I posted. I did some searches and couldn't find, so I came here hoping (thank you for the responses and the nice graphics).
I asked the person who posted the pic I displayed, and all they could say was that it was a gift from someone (that's their screen name). |

1 edit | reply to easonc We'll either find the font, or one close to it - don't worry.
I'm going to download it for comparison as I go through my fonts.
EDIT: I can tell you this: It's an inner bevel. Nice job on it, too. |

Yeah, I did that too, Action_Man. I couldn't even get it to go in the forum post, because it said that the post would not accept "weird shapes." Kind of irritating. I think we're just going to have to search our fonts (there's so many of us who collect them, we ought to be able to find something at least close). I did see one capital "A" in the 11 examples I got back on WhatTheFont that looked like the one in the example, but all the rest of the letters were wrong.
easonc, if you could tell us what words you want to make, perhaps one of us would be willing to make those letters from scratch, like Action_Man did those above (very clean work there, btw, Action_Man. Did you use paths?). -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover. |

Perhaps we could all collaborate into making a new font ? , each posting a few examples .
Could be a good project ? ... |

Thank you for the responses
I'm not really stuck on the actual font itself (sorry if that wasn't clear). I'm wanting 3d letters with the flag as the design, like the example.
I was hoping it was already a fontset so I could create any words with that pattern (my screen name easonc52 was to be the 1st project), but it's beginning to look like it's not.I use Paint Shop Pro, but I don't yet know how to create something that clean.
Upon looking at it again, the 'A's have different patterns, so it must not be a font, but a pattern applied in a 3d manner to a shape.
Know of any tutor for PSP that might get me started? |

I would be happy to contribute to such a project if I can figure out how to get started. |

| In PSP, the different pattern wouldn't be a problem, just make a banner with animation shop, put a picture background on the text-the picture being the flag. Make sure the letters are large enough to see the design. -- want to know what I'm doing? |

I don't know about any tutor for PSP who might get you started on fonts, easonc, but if you follow this link, you will find a LOT of PSP tutorials by a LOT of very good graphics people.:) -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover. |

Probably not exactly what you wanted but maybe something to work from.
I got a picture of a flag and made it a pattern. Typed the text with the pattern (thank you Macy )then bevelled and added a drop shadow. |

It would be a good project, but we would have to use paths all the way, and I'm not all that fond of, or good with, paths. Not because they don't work, but because there's just something about the way they look that bothers me (I know, weird). But to make text, especially if we make a new font set, would require vector grahics, and that, in PS, would, I believe, require paths (somebody step in and correct me here if I'm wrong - this is just an opinion). -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover. |

Fourboxers, if you look at the example, each and every letter has some features of the full flag in it (with the exception of the last "A").
Maybe make a pattern of the flag tiled? Just a thought. -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover. |

 | I did make the pattern from a tiled flag but I think I took too much of it to make it from.
That was why I said it was something to work from, I had never done patterns in PSP used to PS. |

That's actually great! I'll see if I can do that, and if not I'll ask further.
Sounds simple, but I won't know until I actually try. I haven't 'Bevelled' text before, or used text with patterns (may take me awhile to get the hang of it).
I had also checked the Tutorials mentioned above and hadn't seen any referring to what you just presented.
Maybe you could get it added to the Tutorial list.
Thank you all! |

| Here's the settings I used for the bevelled. Which I think was the preset Rubber Covered with the colour changed to light grey. |
