Re: Nice..

Teams will be provided with a complete equipment setup designed to simulate operations in a real-world environment where they must defend their “organization’s” equipment and resources against attempted penetration and exploitation by other teams.

Each team will be required to penetrate, exploit, secure access and obtain privileged information from the other teams’ servers, for the purpose of corporate espionage.
THE BATTLEFIELD
You are an organization running:
o a public web server
o a public ftp server
o an internal filesharing server containing sensitive/confidential information plus a bonus clue.

You cannot allow these services to be down or disconnected or information to be stolen. You will need to engage in corporate espionage against other teams.
THE MISSIONS
o Defend your turf against the other teams.
o Exploit other teams' equipment/resources by all means necessary (subject to ground rules).
o Obtain confidential information (customer database information/files) from other teams.
o Bonus Objective! Assemble the clue-sentence from portions of a special file that each team has on their servers to find the bonus objective for bonus points!

does anybody have any information on how this connection to each others pc? if there are using the internet, is there any other type of connection beside Intranet, or a cross over cable, or are they just using some server. OOps, I remember now! from cisco class, we use some router, hubs, swithes to make connection, there was no internet. I can wrong. can some let me know, is there any other connection.

they use dialup modems, port scanning, DOS attacks, brute force, anything the real world is using.

Remember, they cannot shutdown the system, so it must be on all times. 2 men team, 1 primarily will be for defense while the other offense, sharing info to aid each other. They could also do simu attack and defense when needed.

They are also in a intranet where it looks like the internet xept only servers these ppl can see are each others. Similar to the real world where web servers are available to anyone, file server is available to anyone, web/file server is connected to their own LAN.

This is pretty cool and it does apply to the real world scenerio, only a smaller scale.
