| reply to dg2 Trey> I cannot share launch dates for the new product because I do not have the information. For competitive reasons, Cox does not publish launch dates for new services or service enhancements in advance.
Trey> Cox has already begun a rolling deployment of the new service and speeds in southern Louisiana and that the customer can expect to hear something from Cox about availability in their area soon.
dale> we keep hearing that but have heard nothign else dale> you woulndt happen happen to know maybee a genral are of time? dale> are=area Trey> Early Next Year Maybe..
Okay now im getting pissed off they flippin know the dates there gonna do each area and they still wont tell us what they are when every other internet copmpany tells way in advanced.
COX i want a response to this and a date no more runarounds and if you turly are reading this (cox) just give us dates for each area or you will never see peace from us and we will get more more angry and you will start looseing customers. In fact i know of 5 friends who quit cox and went to dsl (luckly they could get it) becuase fo this mess. |

| reply to dg2 It's been 5 days since my last request, so here goes again:
Have any MAC systems, other than Lafayette, LA, received the upgrade yet? If you have received the upgrade, and are not in Lafayette, are you on the Lafayette system?
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but one city in two weeks doesn't sound like much of a "rollout." -- "Middle America Cox" customers passed over for three upgrades, but still saw rates equal to the upgraded markets. Most of MAC still running at 1/4 speed for the same rate. Cox has finally begun to upgrade MAC - will they complete the job? When? |

| it would be safe to say that the answer to your question, dg2, is no. if you look at the cox.com page and go to the high speed internet link, it tells you what places differ.
and there are a lot of places. we won't see or know crap til late december. |

| reply to dg2 Youll notice cox is too chicken to even come in and try to say anything and im pretty sure there are dates if they even happen (because the runaround ive been getting every time i call about it im very seriously doubting well even ever see a upgrade now).
And what bothers me is why they cant give out dates becuase every other company announces way in adavced the dates and what areas will get it when and cox wont do that for comptetive reasons it really begans to make me wonder if we can even ever trust those dodos. |

| reply to dg2 I believe a Cox rep stated their policy is not to announce dates in advance. I don't think they are doing anything different then what they stated. It's apparent you do not agree with this policy. You keep beating this dead horse. -- Of all the people I know... you're one of them. |

  dg2 Premium join:2004-01-22 Lowell, AR 1 edit | I don't think it's any secret that I disagree with Cox's policy of silence -- it's on the record.
In this case, however, I was asking Cox customers if they had already received the upgrade. I doubt Cox has a policy against that. |

had nothing been going on in that area, the MAC would still be waiting around 4-5 months before word came out. |

Old info, already covered ad nauseum in this forum. Looks like Cox's announcement of MAC upgrades was at best premature. It's also obvious that the best way to get Cox to serve the system is by starting up a municipal effort. -- "Middle America Cox" customers passed over for three upgrades, but still saw rates equal to the upgraded markets. Most of MAC still running at 1/4 speed for the same rate. Cox has improved only one system in MAC - will they complete the job? When? |

| reply to dg2 Some New Juicy Gossip on the Rollouts
Hi all - I used to belong to the Direcway herd, and did a lot of posting over in that group (let's all be thankful we have options other than satellite internet - pathetic isn't even the word). Anyway, I am now and for the past 8 months have been a Cox customer - I'm in the North Louisiana area. Well I recently talked to a guy in tech support and I was in rare form (hot under the collar). I don't have specific dates, except for my area (North Louisiana). But he did read to me the order (supposedly) in which the rollouts are supposed to occur, so I guess maybe this is some viable news for the group. Again - take this with a grain of salt - we've seen how reliable their info is in the past - I'm gonna keep the guy's name confidential b/c he was actually pretty cool about things - this is the order he gave me:
August 23rd - Lafayette / South Louisiana Rollout (we know this one came to fruition) then... Northwest Arkansas then... Southeast Texas then... Northeast Texas then... North Louisiana (me) - the projected date for this one is Feb 28, 2005 then... the remainder of Arkansas
Like I said - take it for what it's worth but he was reading that straight off of some interoffice document that had been given to them
I couldn't get the dates for all of the rollouts, but if you look at the Lafayette (Aug. 23rd) and then at North Louisiana (Feb 28, 05), you should be able to get some kind of general idea where you fall in between - and for the lucky guys that are in the "remainder" of AR, well you're practically in the same boat with me ; ) -- Cox 'High Speed' Internet Customer - 8 months running |

| reply to friskyweasel What you stated, about NW Arkansas being next, seems to jibe with what I heard at my local office the other day. They said that they are hearing late September/early October for getting the faster speeds.
Based on the list you posted, there are 27 weeks between the start of 08/23/2004 and the 02/28/2005. So, using that as a guide, there should be about a 6-7 week gap (6.75 weeks precisely) between each of the upgrades. And that all assumes that they do it in some sort of linear fashion... |

Trust me, the only people in the world who don't consider Fort Smith part of northwest Arkansas are the people in Fort Smith. The rest of the world has no idea what "river valley" you're talking about.
Friskyweasel: That's a great piece of information. Thanks for posting!
If it's really going to be 6.75 weeks between deployments, I guess I'll get over the "3 weeks since Lafayette" deal. |
