Re: Privacy Tools creator to infect your machine! said by Nogard is me: Looks like the site (Privacy tools) is gone. All I get some thing that says "LOOKING FOR A SPYWARE REMOVAL PRODUCT?".
Yeah....but for those less knowledgeable users that have Active Script enabled now get re-directed to hxxp://hop.clickbank.net/?privtools/spywarerem....which in turn takes you to another site that is listed on the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web Sites....PAL Spyware Remover
Of course....it's not the actual Homepage....so we shouldn't get all bent out of shape. |

1 edit | reply to TeMerc Looks like the site's up as of this moment..
Based on poster "ash1ey"'s comments and ignoring any criticisms, I do not have a good feeling about the thoroughness and care taken to develop the product in question.
His earlier posts also leave me with the impression that beta testing was not nearly thorough enough given the number of documented false positives and the failure to detect several well known items. Using clickbank also gives me an uneasy feeling about the product. I tend to associate the quality of products by the type of marketing as well as the business partners they select, and clickbank has not shown to me to be a purveyor of products I'd trust. The marketing language on the web page is another yellow light to me, as was the absence of a clearly displayed privacy policy.
The level of technical expertise, inclusion of threats, number of grammar, punctuation and spelling errors and bad language used by "ash1ey" in his/her posts are not consistent with what I feel would be made by stable professional business persons engaged in the development of a highly technical product requiring a high level of stability and integrity.
The threat made in the post leaves open the possibility that "ash1ey" could use the site to carry out what he/she posted in »spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php···start=30 said by forum post by ash1ey:
And to be honest i'm even thinking of having some programmers write me some spyware. Yep, actual spyware to infect ppls machines.
and further in the same post, said by forum post by ash1ey:
i'm going to start distributing spyware myself, its not hard. UNDETECTABLE stuff too To be honest theres probably more money in this then the actual spyware removal.
would you download and install something recommended by this person?
Whatever confidence I had in the product, after reading "ash1ey"'s own posts it would be destroyed. Any damage to whatever credibility the product may have had in my mind was inflicted by "ash1ey" alone and I personally would not download or execute anything from the site.

EG, I totally agree. If you want to read some fun stuff about Ash1ey's product, and LOL programming staff, just click on the links beneath Project Name here... »www.scriptlance.com/cgi-bin/free···w=ash1ey (like looking for 5 reviewers to write positive reviews for download.com - must have 5 different email addresses to register...LOL) |

suziPremium join:2004-05-01 | reply to Nogard is me The homepage of the site has a javascript redirect on it to the clickbank affiliate link. The other pages of the site are functioning normally it seems.

If you disable active scripting in the security options for the internet zone in IE, the redirect will not work and you can see the page and the source code with the JavaScript. -- aka Suzi, Spyware Warrior |

I guess the name should have given it away, but we always assume scummy operatives are male for some reason...

Download.com review of privacy tools 2004 Looks like Download.com has a dim view of the product. »www.download.com/Privacy-Tools-2···etReview
I'd imagine reviews might come quite frequently now since the purported author's comments and threats have been brought to light. I also suspect someone has - or will - provide links to ash1ey's posts and comments to the folks at download.com for their review.

Re: Download.com review of privacy tools 2004 Here's some of the reviews from »www.download.com/3302-8022_4-10303104.html. I've BF'ed the typos in them & added my own thoughts in parenthesis proceeding each "Review"
"fantastic product" It found eleven visus' on my machine! Even with virus software running. I was dumbfounded! ( We know this one is BS, he only got 10 fingers to count on)
"Excellent Product", very easy to use and very comprehensive" This is one of the best, if not the best spyware detection program I have come across. Veyr comprehensively featured and very easy to use and install (Sounds like he really got OFF on it!)
"Wow!!!!!!" Truly amazing product, a must buy for everybody out there who wants to have the best spyware detection and removal software on their machines. I have been trying it since last 203 days and it has beejn totally amazing (Your record keeping is totally amazing too)
"Awesome!" Would recommend to others. Sorted all my problems out and there tech support answered my questions very quickly. Thanks guys ( Let's play Jeopardy. The answers are "$25" &" Paid as soon as work is done") -- Dave said "By the way, 4294967295 is just another way to write -1". |
