Re: $9.95 scam.. check your bank statements. I just checked my CC today 8/29 and I see a pending charge from USOFTWEBSYS. I don't see anything else as of yet. This is my checkcard and it says this is a checkcard charge. |

 | I just saw a $9.95 charge from USOFTWEBSYS on my online bank statement. I called the bank immediately and cancelled that card and am being sent a new one. After that I ran my McAfee scan and found 2 trojans. THAT may be the culprits weapon... not sure. But all searches of USOFTWEBSYS on google only returned this forum! Thanks for the info! Ohh.. there was a phone number on the charge, but I only got an automated answering service.. I did not leave a message. Hopefully the bank will find fraud and try and stop this from happening to others... and put a few a%*holes in jail! |

ripoffs.com? Is that a tainted site? At first glance, looks harmless. |

I just wonder why this hasn't been stopped after so many complaints. -- Lee Ho Fook's |

1. The individual amounts of the phony charges are far below any jurisdiction's limits for felony prosecution.
2. The weasels operate across international boundaries which further complicates jurisdictional issues.
3. The financial institutions who could bring felony charges because of their collective losses are likely making more money on credit card processing fees for the majority of the phony charges which go undetected than they are losing by eating the detected and reported charges. Banks collect a transaction fee and a percentage of the sale amount for each credit card transaction.
4. For what it is worth, some of the web sites do appear to have been taken offline, but that does not mean that the credit card merchant accounts have been closed. -- The man who is a pessimist before 48 knows too much; if he is an optimist after it, he knows too little. |
