Re: Yet another ISP goes up in speed....

Doesn't Insight compete with Verizon in a few markets?

Funny how they ( Verizon ) will now give you 3Mbps/768kbps for $44.95 a month. But Insight won't give current 3000/384 customers more than 512 - when if an upgrade occurs.

»Verizon 3Mbps Arrives?

Looks like 4000/256 isn't going to cut it if they compete with Verizon. SBC is also still tweaking there offerings as well.

As much as I applaud Insight for finally making some move to compete and upgrade. I personally feel they are still lagging a bit behind. They need to stop following Comcast lead. And do there own thing.

i was shocked to see yet another DSL company spankin Insight on upload again. I mean this is borderline crime to charge so much for 1/3 as much upload. I really wish there was a regulating system to make all isp's similar in price and speed.

Verizon switches on speedier DSL

»news.com.com/Verizon+switches+on···542.html

"For $40 a month, the new DSL service promises data downloads of up to 3 megabits per second and uploads of 786 megabits per second, Verizon said Tuesday."

Hey Insight do you see that upload speed? That is 768 for $40 a month. Yes it's the old download speed you offered. So you have them beat on download. But with upload your lagging way behind. Let us see 4000/256 for $34.95 with bundling. Or Verizon 3000/768 for $40 with bundling. I bet I know which services users with a choice and close to their CO are going to choose.

Verizon can do it for $40. Yet Insight can't or won't offer 768 up for $69.95 / $79.95 ( without bundle ). And you wonder why customers are saying they are getting taken for a ride.

One thing to keep in mind is Insight is still new to the High Speed internet. Yes @home was here first and they hosed the whole network up. Insight has had to spend Millions repairing the network and getting things running smoothly. They are still learning to walk and play with the other big Broadband big dogs. I expect big things from insight in the near future.
One of my friends works there and he said they are looking into offering multi tier level service levels.

So we have some exciting times ahead of us with insight if this is in fact true.

The local franchise here in C-U has been pretty darn good at resolving problems for us. I'm happy on that end; it's just the upper management that's holding up progress on more and faster tiers, I'm sure. We just have to wait until SBC makes another competitive push into the market to wake 'em up.
