FIOS + EV-DO Bundle?

Sounds like a sweet pair to me! I wonder if VZ plans to offer bundled pricing.

Not to get anyones hopes up or down, but I don't expect the 'overly' crowded markets to be connected to EV-DO at first. Similarly to AT&T's UTMS service (albeit faster), all EV-DO and UMTS services have targeted 'smaller' cities, and probably those that are easiest to upgrade first.

Yeah DC, NYC and Philly are just "smaller cities"

It's been here for almost a year now, and we're a fairly over crowded area.

I think Fios and EV-DO would make a great pair. Fios isn't available to me (might be soon though). But I'd sign up for EV-DO today if it weren't so pricey (and if it didn't require a commitment). Even at the current terms, I'm still mulling over an EV-DO subscription, but a bundle price (and less commitment) would sure peak my interest.

Actually they've tagged $1 billion for EV-DO upgrades. I suppose they could then jump to EV-DV. Flash-OFDM looks more promising.

If you check the links at the top of the page - its speculation - there's no official word from Verizon on it.
As usual, wait for an official statement.

San Diego, Las Vegas and DC don't add up to the population of NYC combined.

stats (2000) (city websites):
San Diego: 1.2 million
Las Vegas: 500000
Washington DC: 500000

NYC: 8 million
Philly: 1.5 million

EV-DO's "Washington DC" coverage isn't just the DC city limits. It extends into the surrounding area, though I'm sure it's still not comparable to NYC's population.

Here's the map (from Oct '03):
