Re: $9.95 scam.. check your bank statements.

I just opened my Bank of America statement and got a charge of $9.95 from Pansalcorp.com as well. Dated 8/12 so there still at it.

My question is I have never even used this card!!!! It is just for emergencies. So go figure on that one. Someone must be giving out CC info at Bank of America.

RRRRRRRRr.........

I got a $9.95 charge on 8/15/04 from USOFTWEBSYS

The phone number on the statement, 440 378 5649, does not inspire my confidence that it is a legitimate company. It's just a voice mail box with no company name whatsoever, the only identifying information is the mailbox number, which happens to be the phone number.

This is a low-limit card used occasionally online and sometimes at retail outlets.

Currently, the only result on various search engines for "USOFTWEBSYS" is this thread. I tried searches on "u soft" "web systems" and got some foreign results. I'll try to do some machine translations where possible to find a company by the name of Usoft or U-Soft.

If you have a charge from USOFTWEBSYS or any other 9.95 charge that you think is fraud, please post somewhere it'll be indexed by a search engine. I have a feeling that it will be hard to get conclusive results from each of our credit card companies, but if we organize and share information, we may be able to find something.

@hope-blk1.cablelynx.

I was just checking my MBNA account stats and found the Usoftwebsys charge of $9.95 also. I knew it wasn't something I charged because I keep personal, written documentation of every charge I make to my card separately from my statement. It was NOT something I had charged. It was dated 08/12/04 (transaction date). I tried to call my CC company, but today is Labor Day and they are not available. I will call to dispute this charge tomorrow.

I'm just wondering if I need to cancel this card and get them to re-issue. Guess I'll discuss that with the rep. tomorrow on the phone.

Hey Everyone,

I just discovered a charge on my statement from usoftwebsys for $9.95 with the reference phone number of 440-378-5649.

I work in the Information Security business and I highly recommend to anyone and everyone who has accumilated similar or identical charge to immediately call their credit card company and request a closure for account.
From what I see in the thread this is not just Bank of America. My card is not associated with them. This must be a fraud scam on an augmented scale. Caveat Emptor everyone.

FWIW - Just got the same USOFTWEBSYS $9.95 charge on my Chase Visa. The 440-378-5649 number listed is not in service. Called Chase who's CS stated I needed to go through their disputed charges procedure. Once I read some of these postings to her, she immediately credited the amount without dispute. You may be able to do the same with your credit company as well.
Best of luck,
Rog

Add EADENSSOFTCOM to your list. Same story. Maybe it's a good idea for the credit card companies to maintain the suspicious vendor lists?

I agree with that! We got hit in July for the eadensnet scam. Our bank refunded the money but didn't seem to worried about it, nor had they (at least the person on the phone) of these "phishing" scams.

I printed some info from cybercops regarding these scams and sent it in with our letter stating we never made the purchase.

Scary they (the banks and registrars) aren't taking this stuff more seriously yet.
