| Help ! Ad-Aware SE un-install itself ???
Not sure to be posted here, but can be a security problem. I have installed on my PC - Dual boot Win2k Pro, WinXP Pro - the latest version 1.04 (fixed) this morning and made a full scan within the two Operating System. No problem.
I shut off the computer before lunch.. (Nice day in Paris), then switch it on by 13h00 GMT. What a surprise on the desktop of WinXP : No more Ad-Aware icon. A quick search show all folders except Lavasoft (empty) folder are gone. I made a reboot to Win2k, Same thing: Lavasoft folder empty and parent folders gone. Before posting, I made a full scan with NAV latest defs, ran Spybot Search & Destroy, ran Ewidio scanner. Nothing comes wrong. Any idea ? |

1 edit | thats odd, i know of a few virus/trojans that delete folders like that, can try running through these steps(or just posting a hijackthis log).....make sure to get version 1.98 of hijack this also could also be nothing, but never hurts to post a log to make sure |

| reply to Old Computer see »Ad-aware SE v1.04 "Application Hang" ".. NOTE: for those of you who have Ad-Aware installed on multiple operating systems, like I do, beware of the following - while installing Ad-Aware SE you'll be prompted with whether or not you want "a previous version" uninstalled. If you say Yes here, you may very well find that the version on your OTHER operating system has disappeared! I recommend manually uninstalling on both operating systems first, before re-installing, then answering No when prompted about "a previous version"..."

Many Thanks Cudni, That's the trick !!! I just look into my Win2k Partition and the installation i have done 2 hours ago is gone now. (After installing 104 for the second time into WinXP !! I have just scanned from Win2k, then rebooted to Winxp to see my previous installation gone away. The strange thing is when using 1.03 version I did not have this behaviour and 1.0.3 asked for un-install too. |
