Action_ManCurrently Appearing AsPremium join:2003-07-22 England | Pen tool [Basic circle] . Ok this is a simple tutorial with pen tool . I havent done this sort of thing before with (attchment1) etc: so i hope it works .
Start with a canvas 200x200 and insert a red circle 180x180 .

Now select the pen tool .

Insert four points as per the image .

Now you need to add bezier curves to the circle .

Add curves to all four axis .

Then add the desired colour to the circle and remove the border line .

Well it a little basic i know , but you have to start somewhere ... |

| reply to Action_Man Thanks Action_Man, think I'm doing something wrong , tried to get the shape you had, where did you get image 4? Sort of confused on how to add bezier curves seems like my circles aren't too uniform, but was fun working with the pen tool (not quite as frustrating)!

(made an interesting image too )

I did same circle etc.and pen lines with photoshop, I just can't figure out the bezier. Do you have photoshop? -- want to know what I'm doing? |

Action_ManCurrently Appearing AsPremium join:2003-07-22 England | reply to Action_Man I might have missed something out , when you have set your four points you need to go round them all again and drag the pen tool over them to add bezier , drag until you have reached the required angle of curve .
And yes this is Fireworks so it may not or may not work in PS/PSP ... |

MrSquireInsert something witty herePremium join:2004-06-08 X(4)Y(0)Z(0) | reply to Action_Man I tried this in Illustrator and PSP7. Illustrator gave me 4 quarter moons (like dandelion, also using Adobe). PSP 7 worked better because I could do just lines instead of filled areas, although each quarter had to be drawn separatly so you can see where each line (or arch) doesn't match up perfectly. Thanks for the tutorial. Even though it works differently in different brands, at least you got us to get our pen tools out.:) -- Utilikilts - We Sell Freedom! |

I don't know, as I haven't tried it yet. The author of the article seems to be saying that after you keep trying it for a bit, you'll get it. -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover. quick post on using rulers and guides??? :D Used direct selection tool, so adjust by eye alone-doesn't make for a very good circle always.

| reply to Action_Man I actually used the pen tool to create the paths I used to make the Lexus logos. I think that is the first time I have ever used it to create anything.
One thing to remember, in PS: You can set the tool to paths, shape layers or fill pixels up on the Tool Options Bar that appears at the top of the screen whenever you click on any tool. If you have it set to shape layers, and are trying to create a circle or anything by connecting paths, that gets really frustrating! I know, I've done it enough times.:p -- Some people think they gain through dishonest means, never realizing that in lying, cheating, and other dishonesty, they are losing pieces of themselves, which they can never recover.
