i'm in your shoes as well. i have some computers that i would like to get rid off. I think City of Plano has a service that will haul away your stuffs for you but it's like $12/per instance or something..

Resource concepts usually charges. You might want to check with your local scrap yards. they will take PCs and depending if you make their minimum weight, even pay you for them. Its amazing the amount of money one can make scrapping these out, especially if the have the patience to separate everything out.

Yoy might look up at ask "Resource Concepts", Carrollton, I-35 & Frankfort, if they will accept your unwanted computer hardware.

Re: Local place to recycle computer parts/compents

No charge. They told me that you just drop off whatever it is that you got and they bring to the back and periodically ship everything that was brought in to where ever.
Unfortuneately, after calling a different OD that was going to be on my way while running other errands today I was told that they aren't actually doing this anymore and that it was only for a couple weeks during the summer. I called back the OD that I had originally gotten my info from and spoke to someone else and they confirmed that they're not doing this anymore and it was only for a couple weeks and ended last week.
So I'm back to square 1 - looking for a place that'll accept old/broken computer parts for recycling.

I kept making calls and found out that Office Depot offers just such a service.

Local place to recycle computer parts/compents?

I live in Allen and remember seeing in one of the Sunday paper circulars (Staples, OfficeMax, etc...) just a couple weeks ago that some chain was starting a drop-off point program where people could bring in computer parts and components they don't need anymore so that the parts could be recycled rather than thrown into a landfill to leach all sorts of toxic stuff into the ground.
I called my local Staples but they plead ingnorance. I did a Google search but didn't have any obvious hits. Does anyone know of any place locally that I can take old computer parts/components for recycling? I just had to replace my MB and PSU and I have a unusable 14" monitor sitting in the attic that I'd like to get rid of as well.
Thanks.
