 | Can I use a 2wire 1000SW w/o SBC Yahoo? I am pretty new to broadband/networking, I have researched quite a bit and thought I made a wise choice for a modem/router versus the one my provider offered. (At a high price too I might add)
I bought a used 2Wire 100s on eBay - my DSL provider said a non-bridging modem would work - The install disc has all the yahoo software, and this was obviously packaged w/ yahoo; but isn't there a way around it?
I just want to connect to my DSL provider (ETEX) with as little hassle as possible (though it seems I'm already beyond that) =( DSL just became available here, I'm kindof out in the country so I've been waiting & hoping....I had DSL in Scottsdale, AZ. but had to settle for dial-up when I moved here. (Outside Longview, TX.)
Right now I have a blinking orange light, I'm sure there is no filter on the router line. The provider assures me my service is active...
Am I wasting my time trying to get this to work?
As mentioned the modem is the 2Wire 1000SW. If the PC specs are needed it's all pretty new stuff - like Asus P4C800-E Dlx, P4 3.0cGHz, 1G Corsair, x800xt-pe etc...
TIA! |

 | BTW I checked in the FAQ and it instructs to use "Homeportal/setup" but that link is dead. |

ranger714Premium,VIP join:2003-05-10 Gilbert, AZ | homeportal/setup will work if your computer is getting an ip address and dns information from the homeportal itself...
you could also try 172.16.0.1/setup, home/setup, gateway.2wire.net/setup or just try getting to the internal page of the homeportal by surfing to home, homeportal, gateway.2wire.net or 172.16.0.1...
once you get to the internal page of the homeportal, click the 'run system setup wizard' link in the lower-right side of the page...
once you get to the setup wizard, you will need to enter a keycode for generic dsl provider, keycodes are at »www.2wire.com/?p=268 |
