it's not even that, if you have a corrupted .avi divx file, the playa actually rebuilds the index so that it can be read. in your case, you can tell if this happens by the long load time of the movie after you opened it in 'the playa' (usually about a minute or 3). download the file that Willow put up and let it rebuild the index, then try to play it in WMP, see if it's better.

Yep that did it!!! I watched the first 5 minutes and then my computer froze when I tried to move the playa.  I guess you can't mess around with it too much. Thanks to everyone who helped out! Can the playa only play .avi's or more files?

The file names are the following:
ENEMY AT THE GATES[1 OF 2].avi
ENEMY AT THE GATES[2 OF 2].avi
I left morpheus on while I slept and in the morning it said that both files where completely dled. I'm pretty sure they are the complete file.
I'll dl the playa now and report back. Thanks for all the help!!
I just went to site and did not find it, I will search around for "the playa"

DivFix rebuilds an index on an incomplete AVI file. The Playa can play an incomplete AVI while rebuilding the index on the fly. Virtualdub can also be used to rebuild the index. It definitely sounds like part 1 of the film you downloaded is incomplete.
This program is very simple to use. Just browse to the AVI and click "Rebuild Index". After this, it should play back just fine, up to the point where it's incomplete of course.
Another way to play back an incomplete is to right click/properties in explorer then select the "Preview" tab.

what is the file name? are you sure you downloaded the complete .avi? download 'the playa' at www.divx.com (under software) and see what it comes up with.

There's a program called DivX Fix that you may want to try in »www.doom9.org/software.htm. I've never used it myself, but it sounds like your file might be a good candidate for it. Just make sure you backup your AVI first before using this. |

It's worth a shot. I find it odd that one file works and the other doesn't. Did the first file completely download? Also, what is the file name, sometimes the format of the file is in the filename.

It still wont play the first file and it skips over to the second file. Does my puter need to be restarted for it to work?

|  I just dled a movie off morpheus and wanted to watch it and the movie was in 2 different parts. I can watch part 2 of the movie, but not part 1. Both files are .avi files. WMP says it can not play this type of file. Any suggestions?
