Unlocking your Speedstream 5200 E242Well, I've managed to actually get Port Forwarding and other features working with the Speedsteam 5200 E242. Here they are again: Step 1: you have to make sure your IP is set to 192.168.2.2 Step 2: Go to » 192.168.2.1/pfwizardj.cg ··· retain=f and set "All Items" under "Profile Configuration Access" click next and choose "Do not require admin login" Step2: Go to » 192.168.2.1/pfwizardj.cg ··· retain=f and do the same thing, except type 192.168.2.2 as your "Constant Profile IP Address". (if everything went ok, you should now see the new configuration page) From here, you have to access every configuration page manually. I've managed to figure out what some of them are, (plus the ones francoisr mentioned in another post.) Here they are: » 192.168.2.1/dhcpcfg.htm - DHCP » 192.168.2.1/ddnscfg.htm - Dynamic DNS (what francoisr wanted) » 192.168.2.1/ipp_config.htm - IP Passthru » 192.168.2.1/updatelocal.htm - Update firmware » 192.168.2.1/ras_config.htm - RAS config » 192.168.2.1/naptcfg.htm - Port forwarding » 192.168.2.1/dmzcfg.htm - DMZ Config » 192.168.2.1/fwcfg.html - Firewall Config » 192.168.2.1/natcfg.htm - NAT/NAPT Configuration » 192.168.2.1/hostcfg.html - Host Configuration » 192.168.2.1/upnpcfg.html - UPNP Configuration » 192.168.2.1/ripcfg.html - RIP Configuration I really hope these steps work for you guys, they surely worked for me. I forward ports to 192.168.2.3, which is used on my main computer. If I wan't to change some settings, or forward some ports, I just switch to 192.168.2.2 and access the web interface again. If something doesn't work let me know. |

. » 192.168.2.1/fwwizard.htm - Firewall Config Wizard Try that, perhaps. That's from my uncrippled SS6300, but efficient has shown in the past that the structure of the web interface is similar between different modems. Might also wanna try those, to see if they work. » 192.168.2.1/adscfg.htm - FW Attack Detection System » 192.168.2.1/snoozecfg.htm - Firewall Snooze Control » 192.168.2.1/lansrvscfg.htm - Gateway Server Port Config |

I set 192.168.2.10 as my constant IP and it works from the default IP assigned by the DHCP (which would be the same IP). |

I already nominated this thread a couple of days ago. There's even a special page for that purpose (» Bell Canada Internet FAQ). Others who feel the same should do likewise. Great job! Ditto! |

Usually easier telling people to stick with one, not make their lives more confusing If you know what you're doing, you'll figure out that you can do it with any IP. I just assigned it to 192.168.2.2 while messing around with francoisr's idea. But yeah, you can pretty much do it with any internal IP. Sticking with 192.168.2.2 just makes it a lot easier to remember, since you shouldn't use the one you're assigning this to anyway (unless you want all your ports open - which no doubt would make this guide partly useless). If you can remember another IP easier, go ahead and use it If you find it easier to wipe out the IP for mfadmin, then type in the IP again next time you want to edit something, go for it. I just personally find it easier switching between 192.168.2.(whatever i forward ports to) and 192.168.2.2. |

skyeking69: You need to go to 192.168.2.1 and set your PC's IP 196.192.2.2
YamaBlast3R: Why not use the PPPoE from the modem? When unlocked, you get all (or most of) the features of a router |

I wanted to connect the 5200 E240 on my D-Link 704UP using the DHCP auto config (ETHERNET mode, not PPPOE). It works but I don't get the full speed. You have to configure the modem as bridged mode otherwize, it will not work. Maybe there are some options to enable or to disable to make it work ok.
I'll get my 5200 E242 soon. I'll check if this correct this problem. |

Ok..I did the basic things that fredek said... however I don't get a new configuration page? |

I have the 5200 E242 now... The router detect the modem IP (192.168.2.10) as DHCP (Ethernet Mode like if a cable modem is connected to your router).
The problem comes when you try to make a server...
Internet IP > 192.168.2.10 > 192.168.0.1 > 192.168.0.100
As you can see, the router is working with IP 192.168.2.10. Using the route table (inside the router) will probably solve this problem. |

With this two file, you will be able to see the menu "Advanced Setup". Put this file some where on your hard-drive ( 2 htm file ). Open the file index.htm. I have take in consideration that the ip of your modem is 192.168.2.1 Have fun !!! |

cool Thanks alot. I made an HTML file too but it's not an original one like yours. Is the 5200 E240 Web page is the same as the 5200 E242? Merci beaucoup |

Greetings,
Because, there is no such link in the actual menu. It is generated by profile wizard's home page depending on the profile you select to edit. |

Edit: figured out the recent question I just asked, but, unfortunately, it still doesn't work. Switched to my Rogers Extreme connection. I'll try later when I'm not so tired. |
