Someone give me one reason why we should trust microsoft to protect us against something they were originally leaving us wide open to...
and hey....heres an idea...FIX YOUR F*CKING BROWSER AND WE WOULDNT HAVE THESE SPYWARE PROBLEMS!!!!!!!
We dont need more add-on CRAP taking up memory so one program can fix another

and the 10 yr old responds with cursing and more garbage that offers no help what so ever. if you really do not trust microsoft so much go use linux, bsd, mac, whatever so you wont have to deal with them anymore and we wont have to read responses like that either.

You seem to lack the intelligence to understand what I said was simply my opinion. Have your opinion...whatever you want. When you dish out near $100 for the operating system, you should be getting something of quality not something that in all the right minds should have federal warning stickers stating that if you do not secure the product yourself, you risk getting your Identity, Credit card number(s) any or all personal information stolen. Or could get tangled into a web of having your computer hijacked to be used in illegal acts which include but are not limited to, Denial of service attacks, war dialing, password cracking and hosting illegal files such as copyrighted music and programs.

identity theft occurs more from people entering their info into bogus banking sites and from hackers breaking into "secure sites" and stealing it.

Besides just because you have an opinion does not mean we have to hear or read it. Your "opinion" was extremely ignorant cand childish and frankly would have better off being kept to youself.

People being ignorant and not protecting themselves is not the fault of microsoft. In fact if you had the MS firewall on you would not have got the Sasser worm. The tools are thetr, MS can't make you use them.

so you basically expect microsoft to secure their product against every little bug and/or user action that the mind can think of? it is not microsofts fault that everyone puts their product under a microscope to find every little thing wrong with it and then develops a exploit for it. YES all those thing you say can happen, but war dialing? did you just copy that from somewhere? war dialing is old and never used unless it took on a new definition that im unaware of. most of what you say can be avoided by common sense. but its like saying its gm's fault for not securing their cars against car jackers. or its mcdonalds fault for serving unhealthy food and people get fat because of it. or how about houses, they get broken into, vandalized, etc.... so should be blame the builder for not securing it enough? after all we pay 150k or more for a house i would expect it to not get broken into or vandalized. for what i paid it should provide me with the security to protect against all of it. if you want to use the internet in any shape or form you will have to get used to the insecurities of it and subject yourself to the dangers of it everyday just like you do when you venture out into the world.

Ok...We start with Windows 95, then 98a 98b and/or 98SE(with possible revision's released), Windows NT(I forget is there were service packs), Windows ME, Windows 2000 including 4 service pack updates and now Windows XP with 2 service packs.

After atleast 5+ years, there are an unimaginable number of sploits popping up like popcorn in a microwave.

old and never used? There is a WHOLE new generation of war dialing happening right now. A friend of mine has over 100k bots and atleast 20k have a dialup modem installed with phoneline still attached. Give me your phone number and I could have 20k phone from all over the world calling you 24/7

Theres a reason cars have seat belts, and why you can get home owners insurance, enough said. I only hope you can see how ignorant you are

sure you can have my phone number but i have no modem, and i doubt your friend has 100k bots with 20k he actually calls up over phone lines. war dialing to me is a program used to dial out random or in some order of numbers trying to find a computer to connect to. this practice im sure is outlawed and watched by the phone companies. what your talking about is something totally diffrent. im not going to argue points(im ignorant remember?) but sense you are so smart why dont you go on over to microsoft and look over the millions and millions of lines of code and fix it since it seems to be so easy.
