| reply to Steve Savvis.net spamhaus to nuke spammers
said by Steve : But if the new listing is around two weeks from now, then I'll be convinced.
savvis signed up two IP blocks for a ROKSO spammer on Sept 24th & Sept 26th, well over two weeks ago, and well after their announcment that they will be terminating them . . . and they are still there. Obviously, savvis intends to keep providing network connectivity to known spammers even after announcing their intention to terminate them.

The leaked memos indicate their "pinkness", and their intentions to fly "under the radar". Their actions after the disclosures and agreements indicate their spam support. I use the term "pink" to indicate their spam friendliness.
With all due respect, Steve . . . I think you are being way too lenient in your judgement of savvis. Their actions have spoken far louder than their words. -- The Rules of Spam | Maryland's Newest Anti-Spam Law Where are we going? And what's with the hand basket? |

I thought I was clear that I was speaking about a general mechanism of decision making (which applies to all such cases), not a particular assessment of savvis. said by "the rule": The mere isolated act of signing up a ROKSO spammer doesn't mean that one is spam friendly. Letting them hang around does.
You've provided data (that I could have found if I had thought to look) that they do let new ROKSO spammers hang around, so therefor savvis is spam friendly. Fine by me.
This is not the last time we'll see a case like this, and I don't want to see people fly off the handle when a ROKSO spammer shows up: wait two weeks, then fly off the handle

1 edit | Just to keep the world abreast of savvis. Yesterday they added two more Rosko spammers, which puts their Spamhaus listing at 62. One less than would put them on the top ten spam hosting list.
They know exactly what they are doing.

quote: It's quite clear that savvis's m.o. is to host 1 less spammer than the #10 worst ISP in Spamhaus. They just added two more spammers, bringing them to 62 SBL listings. Verizon is in the #10 spot of Top Ten Worst ISPs with 63 SBL listings.
-snip listings-
savvis doesn't give a damn about cleaning up, they just want to stay out of the Top Ten list for P.R. purposes. »groups.google.com/groups?&th=fbb···980754f7
I *think* we might see a change in the Top 10 listing next month to make sure savvis is included. -- The Rules of Spam | Maryland's Newest Anti-Spam Law Where are we going? And what's with the hand basket? |
