Cell phones?

I hope not. If I should look at cell phones to see the future of communications, then we are headed back to the dark ages.

My cell phone fails to work at the one location I would most like it to work -- my home. And it isn't just a tiny hole in the coverage area. I need to drive 5 miles to find a reliable cell signal.

Hrmn, considering that wireless is the future of communications (look at cell phones) i'd be investing in wireless technology like intel instead of 'not giving a shit' like this short-sighted loser

I currently use the aircards myself and I love them. I use sprint and Verizon for work , depending on the area. 15 k a sec down usually on the verizon network. And latency at about 400 ms.

Like you said its not a broadband replacement. But is invaluable when your mobile to be able to vpn to work and fix issues remotely while you are on the side of the road. I do it and leave them run almost all day 12 hours a day depending on where I am going. Not to mention the internal Im services to save on cellular minutes

Yes, Verizon's EVDO service is extremely valuable for me. I commute to NYC every day on the train ( 1hour each way) and get a ton of work done on my commute. It is worth every penny. Also have connectivity in airports and hotels when I travel. This also has saved me a ton of money versus dishing out $10/day in hotel rooms for Internet access.

People, this isn't to replace DSL or Cable for the home user it is for those that are mobile and need wireless connectivity in the field.

All in all, I am very happy with the service.
