Suenami join:2000-12-31 Sacramento, CA | I'm still waiting for bedrock in my region and that won't be until the end of the year before we use it. I have been trying to get my hands on a copy so I could try to find a back door before we start using it here...but no one has it around here
If anyone could be so kind and willing to send me a copy I would greatly appreciate it.

Currently there is no workaround. there is a bug that can get you around it that is slated to be fixed ASAP, but it does not authorize the customer, so once the bug is fixed they are back to square one.
Bedrock is the comcast codename for the new unified provisioning system. -- Forum Posts:5307 |

MortyPremium join:2004-09-18 | reply to TechnoScott Yes, if you don't use the cd, it will prompt you to download software. I am unsure if this is the exact same software that is on the disk. There is other ways around it but not from the end user side. Most modems will be auto provisioned if they are from comcast, from what I've heard the reason it's a software download is so that you do not need to enter proxies into any browser (A very big problem with most SAS registrations) and you sign the legal terms of service. However, your modem can be provisioned manually however I wouldn't think "I don't want to use the cd/download" would be a valid reason for having it done as if the modem is registered for you --you never sign off on the Terms of Service or AUP, this creating legal cr@p. |

fewtch join:2001-01-23 Renton, WA 1 edit | reply to TechnoScott Hmmm... why not just call & tell 'em you use Linux. Customer service people are too stupid to ask any further questions, they'd probably just provision you manually (altho they may ask for a faxed or written agreement to TOS, if it's important to Comcast). Thinking about doing this myself... either that or I'll use an install tracker and remove all traces of the Comcrap software after provisioning. |

fewtch join:2001-01-23 Renton, WA | Perhaps you could explain... don't mean to be (too) sarcastic, but what's the difference between 'real' traces and 'false' traces?
Naah, I'll probably just monitor the install (InCtrl5) and remove everything afterward. Or call, whichever seems like a better idea at the time. |

 | reply to TechnoScott We have a complete list of registry items to remove if you want to uninstall ALL traces of the software. BTW, if you are already a customer, you won't need to run this software. |
