| DSLi are spamming scumbags
These people are dirtbags. (I'd use stronger language, but it would probably be deleted) I have a private domain in the form {firstname}{lastname}.com and these bottom feeders figured out that I probably used {firstname}@ as my email address and spammed it. Either that or they somehow got it out of one of about two dozen people on the planet that know the username. I seriously doubt the latter was the case, since I made each promise never to reveal it. Thus, by process of elimination I figure they were so intent on spamming me that they devoted special attention to figuring out what my email address was. Bad move.
There's no way in hell I'm going to buy something from any louses like this that spam me. I take the Boulder Pledge (»www.panix.com/~tbetz/boulder.shtml) very seriously. I sincerely hope these slimy devils go out of business very quickly.
Any representatives from DSLi want to pull an explanation out of their hindquarters for this one? I'd love to hear a good story. |

| reply to colorbars I am thinking of the same thing too.I got some of those.. somehow...
Amusingly enough, DSLi wasn't smart enough to generate a 1 time e-mail address to send that "offer" but rather used a single, obvious one. If someone replies to it. It hits everyone on that list. I have 8 e-mails just FROM that e-mail about people saying "let me off!" -- I call for a separation of church and idiot. - Lewis Black What this country needs is a good five dollar plasma weapon. |

| reply to colorbars Mine had the subject: You Qualify for VoIP, but it's probably similar. It's in ****ing HTML that doesn't render (that alone should be enough to show that they don't have a clue), so I don't know what the attached graphics are. I'll bet it's similar though.
The only way I could see someone replying and all of them going to the list was if someone used "reply to all". The From line on mine is voipsupport@dsli.com and the To is offers@dsli.com. That's fairly common though.
DSLi needs to remember Rule #4 - The natural course of a spamming business is to go bankrupt. See »angel.1jh.com/nanae/rulesofspam.shtml Can't happen too soon. |

I'd love to see how many hundreds of people are in the BCC lines on these. Time to start null-routing dsli at the edge/peering points just like any other spammer. |

1 edit | reply to colorbars I had the same experience with these dirtbags. Not only do I get their awful spam, but I get every reply message from pissed off people begging to be removed from the list.
I thought I was done with these scumbags years ago when I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against them (see my review: »Review of DSLi by kiprainey )
What a horrible company. |

| reply to colorbars My inbox is now full of.. idiots now, that have not discovered what other people have told them about not sending an e-mail to that specifc address.
Ever since that one sys-admin told everyone to stop replying, everyone beyond that mark is an idiot. -- I call for a separation of church and idiot. - Lewis Black What this country needs is a good five dollar plasma weapon. |

| reply to colorbars I've gotten quite a bunch of these as well. DSLi doesn't seem like the kind of company to spam, specially since they've had my e-mail for years and never sent me anything like this until now. From the looks of this to me, it looks like it was a marketing idea gone wrong. Specially with the way it was done and everyone getting hundreds of replies from people you don't even know! -- "The only thing thats worse than being blind is having sight but no vision." |

| If that is so, maybe we should just look into who let this go, for all we know it just could be a rogue employee or maybe a virus fowarding a bunch of these emails, unlikely though, I think its plain old spamvertising. Im looking at the website to get a list of names to call and tell.
I heard that when you reply to them you email everyone on the list, I guess 1st step is not to reply to these guys, I mean it dosn't work with other spammers why would it work for DSLi? |

| Im tired of having my inbox spammed, I had delt with these guys before when I was in Miami. They aren't too enthusiastic to keep their DSL customers for some reason, now they bombard me with spam, im not even in Miami, they are desprate because they cant compete against other VoIP competition.
From research they had their chance to make it big, but I guess their effort to actually correct the fatal things that held them back are sub-par. Now they do this desperation to get customers, on Monday im going to talk to sales/marketing and get in conctact with the guy in charge of marketing at any cost using any method. I think everyone should give these guys a call, like they give us emails and stir something up.
My Goal: Contact the people from their website in the management section. |

| reply to colorbars DSLi for the most part is a reputable company. I had a friend who worked there once. I agree that this is likely a marketing idea gone wrong, really wrong. I have emailed the chairman of DSLi's board of directors and hope that the situation will be resolved shortly.

| reply to colorbars I got the original "offer" the other day... along with a barrage of replies from many unhappy people. Now, I just received a fresh "offer" just like the first one. These people need to get their heads out of their ass.
I dumped these jokers as an ISP months ago. |
