Ok still good from yesterday no dropouts so far. Router still laying flat if it acts up again will standup. Got response from dlink. They advised to diable UPNP on the router and all the Machines. They say try this and if still having reboots downgrade firmware and do reset thing. For now will stay with the changes that you reccommended they are working for me. Will let you know if I have to disable the UPNP as they have said to (try)Thanks again. Trying to post as complete as possible maybe others will do the same and lick this thing. Thanks again for your very good advise |

Next day constant reboots every 5 min or so kept dropping out messenger. I changed to no turbo and channel 11 everything a go so far noticed that as i turned on each computer that it assigned lease in the log. I sent inquiry to Dlink no response yet. I think others may be on to something with the heat or and the cordless phones. Thanks for your help works for me so far. |

jmirabil,
Super-G is very sensitivity to interference of the surrounding, & it will offen falling back to very slow speed.
So, maybe you can try using "Super-G No Turbo" I think you will see the better result .

| reply to Chimmy3 "Talon, does your router have the creeping slowdown problem on static turbo?"
I may have this issue... quick summary: DI-624 router Rev C3, 2.50 usa FW being used with one dwl-g650 card, rev B5 (yes, B5) and newest "USA" B drivers. Using WPA-PSK and set to static 108 super G turbo at card and at AP/router.
The transfer rate is about 155k both directions, and there is huge web-page load latency. My old cisco 340 AP and Cisco 340 pcmcia card whips this combo...
Is this the creeping slowdown problem? What do I do? -jonathan |

| reply to Talon88 Well I just bought a Zyxel P334WT and am very happy. DLink is RMA'ing me a new 624 should be here today but I am not holding my breath any more.
All the companies Netgear, Linksys and DLink need to get on board with there equipment and fixing. I had no problems with my 624 then i upgraded to 2.5 from 2.28 and all he** broke loose. Dlink's answer downgrade till it works. That's not an acceptable answer. |

Hmm, everything wa fine and dandy until i flipped the magic switch! I tried to use MAC-filtering. I thought it would be more secure, but boy, did i get myself in big trouble. The router began disconnecting and rebooting furiously, and has been for the last two weeks, ever since i enabled it. Even when i disabled it, it didnt help. Had to do a firmware upgrade/restore to default for it to get back to normal.
So DO NOT use mac filtering... |

| reply to gdm Well guys I can't believe it but it's true. Take off the damn cover and no more reboots (at least for the last 5 hours). I started downloading some news group articles with firmware 2.50 and then began my reboot hell. It seems once you put a heavy load on the router it begins to reboot like crazy!!!! I upgraded to 2.52 and you know what happened. I came onto this board, read the thermal problem, broke out the screwdriver and look at those articles come in! |

1 edit | reply to Tsume Yeah I know....I knew I shouldn't have upgraded to 2.50. Before that I never had a issue.
I just tried the Crash Recovery method right now so we shall see what happens.
**Edit
It's done it three times now since my last post. It's worse after the crash recovery method. Actually the last one was in the middle of me hitting the send button. |

Well I thought what the he** and I upgraded my 624 C2 from 2.28 to 2.50 and it seems every hour I lose connection for 1 second then it's right back.
My XP and 2k box both show network unplugged then it's gone and internet is ok.

| reply to Talon88 I think I can shed light on the Di0-624 problem. I bought one from Dell just prior to Christmas, and like many others have experiencced the disconnect problem. I upgraded firm ware, replaced a NIC card driver and gone through hell and highwater trying to determine the issue, including moving the router to a cooler spot with fan etc. All but attempting someting with the router's insides - and as with most others, no joy! My ISP is Comcast, and I finally got a tech to my house, and we found that my singal had more than the usual nuber of errors. Traced it to a bad line and splitter, which on replacement produced a clean signal on his diagnostic equipment. This has kept my DI-624 up now for atleast 24 hours, so not sure if this is a final fix, it just may be someting that some of you can look into. On anohte note, after workign with Dell and getting yet a second DI-624 (with the same problems both on firmware 2.42 amd 2.5) before engaging Comcast to check my lines, Dell in attempting to fix my problme gave me a Linksis WRT54GS. Assuming the DI-624 stays up I'm going to do some comparative analysis on the two boxes. If the DI-624 starts disconnecting again, I will be able to see if the Linksys has similar teoubles. But at this point all I can say is maybe the problme on the DI-624 is poor error handling routines. |

| reply to Talon88 It s not easy as it seem...I realize my neighborhood also hav this kind of phone, that make my router reset. I'm gonna finish in jail if I go break their evil phone...:). Anyway, I write to D-Link to get the right thing and they just tell : It s interference, there nothing we can do, stop using your Wireless Phone....ya right!!! I'm wondering if Linksys have the same problem with their router??? What about the 802.11b-g if it doesn t work correctly with phone...
Damm shit...best thing I find is to move the router as far as possible to the phone...but what can I do with the neighborhood???
Thank god that cellular doesn t work on 2.4GHz
Anyway I m really deceive about D-Link, and maybe Linksys that use Cisco protocol may have less problem with their own shit...so if anybody know something about Linksys, let me know, because I'm ready for change... |

| reply to Talon88 Find something : I get the 2.50 firmware (doesn t check with 2.42) and each time the phone ring I see all the light shutdown on my Router(Reset). I get 2 wireless phone (one is 900 MHz & the other is a 2.4 GHz). And like you can imagine, it s the 2.4 GHz that make the router reset. I try many setting, and everytime the phone ring 2 times, the router reset. If I unplugged the 2.4 GHz, no more reset...
I got a friend that live downtown and get a lot o neighborhood. Is router doesn t stop reset because everybody arround get wireless phone ( i suppose 2.4, because my 900 mhz doesn t)
I hope it can help somebody, because it drive crazy before I find it ... |
