When a service is provided, the move will be more geared to appliances that will use that service. IP television will eventually play on regular sets, not just PC.

Here's the competition in the future...Cable companies have the triple threat advantage right now (VoIP, streaming video on demand, HSI), but they are limited by the technology of the cable infrastructure.

Once Telcos begin offering fiber based services in a broad manner, people will have a true choice of which conduit to receive their service.
