Is there anyway to change the Max download speed on a Speedstream 5100? I can access the Config Menu but I don't see a way to up the speed..

The speed is normally controlled by the ISP. There isn't anything you can do on the modem to change that.

Basic answer to off-topic post: No, YOU cannot adjust the speed.

The ip adddress of the modem is usually underneath the modem itself (mine is 192.168.0.1)

Really?? I take it you do not know that IP is only for SBC 5100b modems and NOTHING else??

Real 5100s use 192.168.254.254 and early (no longer available) 5100a that SBC first used have an IP of 10.0.0.1 and NONE of those have the IP address printed on the bottom. Then there is a odd 5100 that uses 192.168.1.1 so you have no way of telling what the IP is if you do not have a 5100b from SBC.
