Proxomitron Beta 5 Full Default Release

default.zip 33,991 bytes
Proxomitron Naoko 4 Beta 5 SR 2

Here are the files that will get you going. This is the next full release. So if you have been keeping up with the interim updates or not, this is the one to get.

A few things have been modified and added. For instance, the google and babel translator filters point to the disablemymenu blockfile. The google and babel blockfiles have been removed.

Two new toolbars have been added, one for IE and one for Netscape. I can't test the netscape release. Both thanks to Greg from Yahoo Groups. By default, the IE is enabled. Both toolbars also point to the same disablemymenu blockfile. So any entries in the one blockfile disable all of these filters. No point in having multiple files for pretty much the same thing.

I have added a new txt file, ZXList. Any future URLs to be killed will be added in here, and sent to you. The current url killfile points to the new zxlist.

Some more code has been cleaned up. All files are here to get everyone started. New comers, just copy over everything into your Proxomitron folder.

Old timers, you may not need to copy over files like Bypass List.txt. But you need to copy over the URL Killfile.txt.

Thanks and have fun.

Thanks, Z-X! Once again, you're helping to "idiot proof" this fantastic proggie. One small question? Are several of these files supposed to be blank?

Four of the txt files are blank yes. Those as well as some of the other txt files like cookies and bypass list are really meant to be user-specific.

Re : Blank files within Proxo

kksdragons there is further info about these blocklist/blockfile lists within the Proxo help file. Two specifically are called Blocklist Using, and Blocklist Creation. They are both HTML documents. You can find them in the help folder within the Proxo folder itself. Come back if there are further questions.

Changing Filter Colors!

Since this one is really OT for Security, I've created a thread in Web Monks which is perfect for this. If you want to change your colors in viewsrc.css, any .css file, or any of the filters like the Scrolling Toolbars, then visit this thread in Web Monks.

Please note at times I will be posting in Web Monks on Proxomitron if concerning the GUI since it is Web related instead of here in Security.

Re: Changing Filter Colors!

Zhen-Xjell do you mean that I am going to have to do 'my own' filter tweaks now???

...Surely you jest!!!:)

LOL... Yes, you can now begin to learn HTML and begin tweaking the filters. Obviously, I will tweak the toolbars for the next release. This is not to say that everyone here is using my browser settings (which are default). Someone may have a black background, others may have yellow. In those cases, tweaking the colors in the toolbars and viewsrc.css (among others) will be truly helpful.

Thanks for the info, Z-X/CJ! Hopefully, I'll have some time to load Proxo5 and fiddle with it this weekend. I'll probably be back, tho'!

DSLR page compression is off

Since I work behind a proxy, I had this option enabled, and hadn't occurred to mention it until I had a quick IM with Starfish. I have this enabled for all my Proxo configs, and just in case you don't, you should do it immediately! This will severely increase your web page load times. So if you are using Internet Explorer, do the following...

Quoting Starfish:

Checking the option "use HTTP1.1 throught proxy connections" under IE -> tools -> advanced

Zhen I have this option enabled as well, in fact compression is off whether I have HTTP1.1 through proxy connections or not? Am I missing something here?

You have to restart IE in order for your settings to take effect!

DSLR is fast again for me

Oops! See, there I go again... forgot!!

You need to enable HTTP1.1 through proxy connections because Proxo is a "proxy".

Since you have it disabled, once you enable it, you will notice a very large increase in speeds.

So what you are actually saying is that along the HTTP1.1 being selected in IE, I should also have page compression "on"?

I've checked both options regarding HTTP1.1 and (after closing all my IE windows and restarting the browser again) page compression is on again @ DSLR...

These settings should turn page compression on (again), after restarting your browser completely again...
