| Speedstream 5100 modem light not lit after using a
Hi, I have a Speedstream 5100 modem. It has 5 lights. POWER, DSL, ETHERNET, INTERNET, and ACTIVITY. All of the lights would always except the blinking ACTIVITY. After plugging the DSL phone line cord into a surge projector, the INTERNET light no longer is lit even though my DSL light is lit and I have internet.
I tried positioning my DSL Filter once at the wall and once at the outgoing port on the phone line surge protector, but there was no difference. Can anyone explain this problem to me? |

I know, but i still put the filter on the line, connecting the telephone wire to the DSL port on the filter.....
Got any ideas on the light?:D:D |

If you just signed up, I suggest you call SBC support since you are paying them dearly for it. Right?
Your posts are not clear and it still sounds like you are filtering the modem's telephone line and that is wrong.
Read the FAQ links and they tell you all about the Special "SBC ISP Only" product you have. It is not like a Retail Efficient product and it is not documented by Efficient, sorry. It is documented by your ISP.

Internet works. I was not asking questions about filtering - just asking for suggestons.
Again, the internet works, but the INTERNET LIGHT on the modem is not lit anymore, after I ran the 5100 modem's input of telephone cord to a power surge protector.
As for the filters I was asking if I should put the filter on the wall, plug the telephone cord into DSL line, run it to the surge, and connect the DSL modem there, or, run a cord directly from the wall outlet to the surge, put the filter there, and connect the DSL modem to the filter labeled "DSL"? Maybe it doesn't even matter where you place the filter because someone already said the DSL Modem isn't filtered; only telephones are.
There are 5 lights on the modem - POWER, ETHERNET, DSL, INTERNET, and ACTIVITY. Just recently the INTERNET light quit lighting up after I put a surge protector inside of the telephone cord line. INTERNET WORKS, do not mistake that.

In that case is sounds as if the user has configured the modem into bridge mode, and the router is doing the PPPoE. Possibly that turns of the light. Maybe you are doing something similar. |
