[Speed Problem] Anyone having issues? 90063

I have the "Expert+ PKG" 6016/608.
Today I noticed my speeds were a little slower.

as of tonight my speed dropped to
4992 Kbps (downstream)
608 Kbps (upstream)

what's going on?

What are your other line stats like? Are you having high CRC error rates?

Looks like the synch rate, rate adapted down to 4832. Something has cut into the available bandwidth for your line. Any new phones around the house? How about new lights?

Any noticeable change in the voice quality of the line? Static, popping, crackling?

Your error counts are low, but they were just zeroed when you power cycled.

The noise margin is too low at 5.0 dB. Generally 6.0 dB is considered the minimum level. Has your noise margin been higher?

You should either call that in to 611 or report it at www.sbc.com. More than likely the two are related, but if the DSL side reports no synch And no dial tone the telco side requests you call 611 and deal with the voice issue first.

If you have a phone box with a test jack outside (commonly referred to around this site as a NID, but inside as an SNI), than you can take a phone to the test jack and see if you have no dial tone out at the test jack. If you have dial tone out there but not inside then the trouble is somewhere in the house. If you have no dial tone out there then the trouble is more than likely in the network.

When I was a Dial Tone tech, I saw on more than one occasion where the phone causing no dial tone was used to test outside. Led to some unhappy campers, but you do always want to test your test equipment when you get the chance or if it comes into question.
