Interesting

Let's see how history in a making begins right here. Not sure how much better than 1.0PR it will be. Worth a try for some fun though.

Well going from version .9.3 I can see no noticeable change in the browser itself. For IE users download Foxfire it puts IE to shame.

How? IE seems to load faster and I get faster speeds on the speed tests (ran multiple times on both browsers)...

Shhh . . . don't be such the heretic in this Firefox camp. It's cool to be an MS hater, don't you know.

I've tried the FF browser in the past and am happily sticking with IE.

Gotta love the over dramatic statements by FF proponents. "History in the Making", the "Browser you can Trust", etc.

Edit: The "History in the Making" comment looks like it maybe was tongue-in-cheek. If so, good one.

Personally, I happliy use both on my family's computers. It was a struggle enough to get them used to not opening AOL to browse the internet, and instead hitting the IE Icon. Now that they're used to IE, I'm not about to impose a change-over to Firefox...that could really blow their mind! IE requires a monthly or so update of IE-SPYAD to keep safe, but that isn't too big of a deal.

The Firefox however, is installed for me, and possibly my brother once he gets a bit more tech savvy. Firefox is a more up-to-date browser, (IE is what, how old now?) and it is not targeted by ad/spyware vendors due to it's small user base. (at least for the forseeable future) This safetey-in-less-numbers comes handy when I need to visit the internet's more underground/seedy sites for the latest craptastic copy protection that plagues my new games/software. (quite often the sites are using every IE exploit/vulnerability known to man(and a few known to monkeys!) on their pages)

Plus, when drafting webpages, it helps to have a second browser to proof my HTML work. Just because something looks snazzy in IE doesn't mean it will be the same for the other browsers out there.

Of course, YMMV with these kinds of things. If you don't like Firefox, don't use it. If you do, then have fun.

first off when u select text on a page it selects it in the same color no matter what color the background of the page is and u cant see the selected text.
2nd is has problems selecting text in the address bar and its not like ie. dont ask me how its dif it just is.
3rd its NOT anywhere near as fast as ie.
4th is that u cant handle saved information data right in the form. ie lets u select that saved data and erase it right than and there and u can select what u want to keep OR u can select the first thing after u double click in the field and hold down ur delete key and it erases it all.
the download manager cant handle mutiple downlooads. for example. go to a page with multiple files. click them all and than close that page. look at the manager and see that only 2 files downloaded and the rest that u clicked to dl have not.

the only firefox con i can think off is that its secure...so far. ie is just as secure when u go in urself and change security settings.

when more people will move to firefox so will hackers. same thing with macs. right now they are secure because hackers are choosing to stay with whatever software has the most users. the more users the less users patch software the more holes in the software for hackers to ****

Are you joking? Or are you running a computer from the 80s? Firefox is noticeably faster than IE. I put firefox in front of my computer illiterate father and he said "wow this is fast"

Nothing wrong with being an MS hater. Here's another reason to be one. Check this out.

Microsoft #1 goal is to make sure they are the last software development company in the world.

This is happening right now:

They are patenting every possible obvious idea. They are on tract to patenting 3000 patents a year. No open-source community have the funds or legal resources to be filing patents. It's their goal to legally be the last company to develop software.

Heres what could happen a small company:

If they write good software it will purchased to be killed off. They can be sued because it violated a patent (it most likely can die off because you have no funds to proceed with a lawsuit, even just to test the validity of the patent). Or sell your self to the devil, join the club. (Sell out!)

The elite will kill eliminate competition:

They are creating "sell your soul to the devil" illegal anti-trust agreements with only a select few elite companies. Their license is like an open source license. Basically they will be allowed to use each others patent portfolio to prevent lawsuits on each other. It's basically the axis of evil. It doesn't include any advocates of open source. Only the top 30 companies have been chosen and AOL, Sun, Intel, and AMD is a definite lock in. IBM, Sony, HP, SGI might put up a fight. The top 30 companies are already using open-source software and may be giving away their rights to use such software.

We are all biologically tuned for choice. Weather you prefer: WinXP home or WinXP Pro, Linux or FreeBSD, UNIX or Linux, IE or Firefox, we want choice.

Its not going to be a fun world when there is going to be only one company making all the software.

It's NOT better with the butterfly!

A computer from the 80s would still run IE faster.

I notice that a lot of pages load considerably quicker with Firefox. One other nice thing about it has to do with pages that use IFRAMEs: with IE, I've noticed that the page gets all blurry when it's loading if you try to scroll. I find that really annoying. I haven't noticed this with Firefox.

Instead of saying IE is part of the operating system, random babble ensued. Logic surrenders.

I have always wondered why people think FF loads faster? As far as I can tell, the only time it might even be close is when a server is overloaded and pages are downloading uberslow to begin with. Any other time, IE blows FF out of the water in terms of speed.

I don't really see much of a speed difference between Firefox and IE. I do notice the other goodies though like the fact a fair amount of applications that try and take advantage of IE exploits get stopped dead in their tracks (or at least in my experience so far).

The fastest browser I have seen so far is Opera. Of course that only matters when on dialup because all three browsers tend to load fast enough on broadband (though IE annoys me at work... could just be a PC issue). It looks like Opera caches previously viewed pages so just going backwards and forwards through already loaded pages is instantaneous. Normally I don't need up to the minute updates on most web pages so that's a nice touch. Both IE and Firefox want to reload the page every time you click the back or forward button.

Well, the current version of IE was released back in August. So it's really not that old.

I do not trust Firefox. Spread anything besides that horrid piece of crap.
