Re: [New] FINALLY! The wait is over: FireFox 1.0 r FF Privacy Cookie Settings | Cookie Culler Protected | Cookie Button | View Cookies Xtension |
Keizer , There are differing ways to deal with Cookies. Here's one (I am still using 0.10.1, so I do not know if any changes are applicable).
Configure FF Privacy "Cookies" as in Screen Shot. This way you block all 3ed Party Cookies, and are asked for all others in the "Confirm Setting Cookie" Dialog. At first you will be hit with a ton of Confirm Dialogs, but these are quickly dealt with, and by using the "Use My Choice for All Cookies From This Site" setting, your save your settings, and so will not be asked again at that site.
If you don't need the cookie, "Deny" it. If you don't need any Cookies from that Site, also select the box to "Use My Choice for All Cookies From This Site".
Select "Session Only" if you want/need the cookie, but only want/need it for the Browser Session (or until you delete it, as below). Again, check "Use My Choice for All Cookies From This Site", if applicable.
If you want to keep the cookie until it expires, or until you choose to delete it (which ever occurs first), then select "Allow". Now you can use Cookie Culler to "Protect" this Cookie. "Protected Cookies" will NOT be deleted when you use Cookie Culler to "Remove All" cookies (which you can use to clear all non-protected Cookies with two clicks - without having to end your Browser session, which, here, can last for days.
I do not use the "Don't let Sites" check box, because I do use Cookie Culler to "Cull" cookies that I do, or may, want/need again.
The "Cookie Button" Extension ( »basic.mozdev.org/cookiebutton/ ) gives you a one click way to check on your Cookie settings for each site (each Tab), and to change them from your Toolbar.
The "Cookie View" Extension gives a way to see all current Cookies on your machine from a currently open page by adding a "Cookie" Tab to "Page Info", which may be much quicker than searching through either Cookie Culler, or FF's "View Cookies". (It doesn't allow you to select more than one Cookie for removal, and "Delete" from the Keyboard doesn't work.) hth -- **~~Infected/Hijacked?
