 | Verizon says i'm not qualified for what I had??? Okay guys, i've got a stupid problem.
Let me start with this. About two years ago we signed up for DSL, 1.5/128, we were qualified and got it. We also got those exact speeds, and very well. Well, inlight of Zooners nice upgrade I called'em up to see what they could do for me. They said, "you do not qualify for the 3.0/768, however you can get a free upgrade in your upload to 384." I was pretty happy, said yes, she said "okay sir, your maximum speed is now down as 1500/384." conversation ends.
Today I'm getting slow speeds, trying to figure out whats up. I get on the Verizon site to see if they are having difficulties in my area, they aren't, and then I notice I have an email. It says my new speeds are...768/128. Needless to say, I immediatly got on the phone with them biotches. I was talking to tech support, and here's what I got: "Sir, our records show your line never qualified for the 1500/128 and they also show that you never had the package. Because of your distance (apperently above 18,000 feet) you only qualify for this package." :irate:
WTF? I had the other package for nearly two years now! I was getting the exact speeds aswell!
He sent me to some latin lady at the billing office who said the same thing, and wheenever I said that I had it previously and am wondering why, she said "our records show you never qualified nor had that speed sir." ever time, whcih got annoying. |

 | Out of curiosity, who are they?
A guy at another forum said there was no way I was getting the speeds I was getting ( »mysite.verizon.net/rbatp/forum/speed.gif) with an RT/centrol office farther than 18,000 feet away. He said I'd have been lucky to get sustained 600kbps down with that kind of distance. |

Re: Verizon says i'm not qualified for what I had??? Yeah call 1-800-567-6789 when the machine picks up ask for billing ( they seem to know who the Customer Advocacy Team is )... When you get to billing, ask them if they could transfer you to the Customer Advocacy Team. |
|
 | reply to sludge88 The EXACT same thing happened to me a few months ago.
I'm still stuck at 768. Hell, I'm pretty sure I can call Verizon now (after having my line conditioned) and get the 3.0 speed, but I simply no longer wish to deal with them. |

 | Re: Verizon says i'm not qualified for what I had? Just did some research...

^^^ = CO

^^ Start = CO, End = My house

^^ = distance...
WTF??!!?! |
|
 | reply to sludge88 Driving distance doesn't not always mean line distance. Post the numbers from the diagonistic utility and if you call again an ask what the line distance is, and they say 17,900 ask to have the distance checked. |

1 edit | I just got off the phone again with Verizon. Billing to techinical support, blah blah. Apperently, he said it's a thing happening to a lot of people in my area. He said the engineer is re testing all of the lines, and some customers are having their speed reduced because of the line or something.
The thing that gets me is they said their records show us never having 1.5. never. I just dont get that part...
As it is, it's 768/128 for $35 a month. = no way sucker. RR. |

|
 | This business with slow down in speeds is also happening in Maryland. They have been working on my problem for 2 weeks and it is still not fixed. I think they did some type of system wide upgrade and now it is backfiring. The techs keep calling back and saying "Your line is fine". |

Bell Atlantic is part of verizon correct ? because routemap.esri.com says i'm 5505 ft away (i notice a bell atlantic building right up the street) however acedsl.com says im 12,590ft away. I guess acedsl is using the huge verizon building located next to a mall about 14.45 miles away. Verizon tech just says i'm a little over.

I would call Customer relations / former presidential appeals at 1-800-483-7988 option 3, or just go through 1-800-567-6789 and ask for retention. |

How would I do this? |
|
 | I would request a manual loop test. By the way, Verizon will be updating its system that handles all DSL orders in NJ/PA/DE/MD/VA/WV/DC on 11-22-04 so your distance might update for better or worse. Hopefully for better than 11,000 feet, that way you can get 3.0/768 and demand 1 month free due to your inconvenience. |
|
 | This is curious, i used to get about 31ms pings to google.com with my 1.5/128, with this 768/128 i'm getting 128ms pings.
I just can't figure it out? Did they switch me to some new box?
I'm calling them again tomorrow, and then maybe I'll hold out until the 22nd and call them again. |
