[XP Pro] DSO Exploit - Spybot - false positive?

SpybotSD.Results.zip 532 bytes
(SpybotSD.Results.txt)
I keep getting this dso exploit every few weeks when I run spybot.

I have run adaware, giant antispyware. They do not complain about this dso exploit.

Is it a spybot false positive?

I am attaching the scan results.

I googled this dso exploit thingy and found this link.

I removed this dso exploit today and it led to my multimedia controller driver corruption. I had to reinstall my multimedia controller due to this.

The DSO exploit indicated by Spybot S&D is a semi-false-positive. At one time it was an exploit, but if your system is all up to date with Microsoft patches, then the exploit should have been closed off and no longer present a risk to you.

So Spybot S&D is both right and wrong on this one - they're calling it to you attention in case you haven't been keeping the system up to date on security updates. Of course, if you're up to date, then it is a bit annoying to see it constantly being indicated. But I think Spybot S&D is such a fine product, I tend to overlook this little hiccup on the process .

While there is a Beta(1.3.1) and a test version(1.3.1TX) that are around with the "fix" for this detection, if you are fully updated/patched(as stated by 2kmaro), you can just use the Ignore function until they release the "fix" for this... I do!

Re: [XP Pro] DSO Exploit - Spybot - false positive

thanks for the help.

I have a fully patched XP Pro SP2. I'll add it to my ignore list.
