Official post (status) of ameritech problems..
Area:Milwaulkee, WI
Problem found: OC3 Sending errors to ISP
Planned resolution: Maintenance window repair at or after 2 A.M. tonight
Area: Indianapolis, Indiana
Problem found: DSLAM NT card partial failure
Planned resolution: Maintenance Window repairs at or after 2 A.M. tonight. ASI is aware and will be attempting repairs tonight during the maintenance window..
Area: Chicago, and surrounding areas (including elmhurst)
Problem found: Aggregate traffic shaping problems causing multiple issues including packet loss, slow speeds, and intermittent connectivity
Planned resolution: Some resolutions have been put into effect already, most should see the reductions in the pings as of this message. The ASI ATM group is working for a more permanent solution as of this posting. A lot of you after a few hours should clear back up, and pings and speeds should return to normal

Where else can you find a telco actually owning up to the issue and telling you what the problem was? This is exactly why the customers keep coming back here. You make us happy instead of just telling us it was FM and keeping it all inside the big black box. Thanks for that! -- Ignorance is temporary...stupidity lasts forever! |

| as I read David post I believe it is at least contributing to it.. It's also possible that it is contributing to my problem but I believe I have more than just this issue at hand... that is why I haven't posted about this particular problem, at least not until my other problems are corrected..
as rolande says, this is why I stayed with SBC, and why people are coming back to SBC.. -- ya'll better be good. Santyclaws is always watchin'!!! |

Well, it didn't used to be Ameritech, that's for sure, and SBC didn't do a bang up job either.
These guys... our guys (and a couple of ladies in there) were the driving force for doing it right. Thanks for the hard work, and the notification.
Hopefully, this will provide some relief to the ongoing problems some folks have been having in Chicago.
Thanks again, all. |

said by fitsun :Could this be the cause of all the problems in Chicago and surrounding areas?? Could be.... some of the new virii are really testing some equipments limits. In light of new equipment and new bandwidth provisioning, we also hope the port 25 block helps in some traffic issues such as these as well. We are not completely out of the woods in chicago, but there is light at the end of the tunnel... -- If you have a topic I have not responded to in the direct forum please be sure to reply to me... I get an e-mail when you do that so I know you updated your thread... Thanks David.. |

| reply to David What you did in Chicago did help me. Last night I did quite of bit of testing and speeds look good. I ran netpersec and downloaded a large file and I was getting very consistent 2.5M down. This past weekend I was getting getting speeds all over the place (300K to 1.8M).
Thanks. |

As of this post the Milwaukee, and Indiana problems should be fixed...
If you guys can, and have a thread stuck in direct can you verify if the problem is still affecting you in the direct forum with either a
Yes- my latency, pings and speeds are affected
or
No- Problem has been solved, and this thread can be unstuck
Now do keep in mind I am not going to lock any of them, just in case the problem returns. -- If you have a topic I have not responded to in the direct forum please be sure to reply to me... I get an e-mail when you do that so I know you updated your thread... Thanks David.. |
