1 edit | reply to drake You should have allowed for multiple choices in the radio buttons of the options b/c some use multiple layers of security as opposed to betting the farm on a single firewall. For e.g. I use Sygate Pro, BID, and a NAT router. -- »www.madeyouthink.org/

| reply to drake Voited. Zone Alarm security suite and Belkin 54g 7k series router. HOWEVER.. I just removed ZASS and am trying Symantecs new Internet security suite. I uninstalled ZASS because of performance issues with my ISP. My download speed was upped to 4mbps but ZA capped it at 2k. Only removing ZA would my speed go to 4. I just put NISS on and so far, I'm not happy. It pops up for everything over and over, even if you tell it "it's ok, calm down".. Speed? Well it seems to be at the 3.3mbps level. I like the all in one package and dump usless spybot and ad aware. Hate to admit it but Microsofts antispyware software found more stuff then both the other 2 combined. I'm about to move to Sygate pro for my software firewall but I wanted something to stop all popups, banners, rouge programs from getting out incase I downloaded something I didn't know about. ZASS seemed to do it all. But I still ran NAV and not ZASS virus engine. Looking at the abilities of everything out there, looks like ZASS is the best overall but I don't like the speed issue. |

| reply to drake f-secure av and firewall...
i was using outpost for the longest time, til they went to 2.5 and now it has a bug in it, that they won't fix. the localhost loopback i tried everything, to get it to ignore the localhost but no go. so i ended up buying f-secure for now, til i find a better solution. |

| reply to drake I use Smoothwall Express Network Firewall. Smoothwall Express converts an Intel or compatible PC into a dedicated firewall and gateway router. If you have a old PC sitting around then this is a great option. It is built on Linux OS. »www.smoothwall.org/ |
